Berry Chocolate Panini Sandwich with Wine Reduction Sauce #SundaySupper

April 6, 2014 By Jennifer @ PB and P Design 59 Comments

Hi Everyone,

Today #SundaySupper teamed up with Gallo Family Vineyards to celebrate National Grilled Cheese Month!  And boy do I have a treat in store for you!!   Today’s recipe is something I have never created before and when I told people what I made, they looked at me like I was crazy and then I described it to them and showed them a picture and their mouths dropped.  Let me tell you the word AMAZING doesn’t describe today’s recipe.  It is outrageous, crazy and out of this world!!  Here let me show you a picture.
Berry Chocolate Panini Sandwich with Wine Reduction Sauce
I am so drooling just looking at the picture. This is my Berry Chocolate Panini Sandwich with Wine Reduction Sauce. This grilled cheese sandwich has everything!!! It’s sweet, savory and the melted chocolate with the Brie cheese is crazy good! Gallo Wine Reduction Sauce brings the sandwich up another level with hints of strawberries & vanilla and of course the fresh berries that bring it all together. Guys, I have truly never ever had a sandwich like this before. It is magnificent and honestly, I am so proud I came up with it!
Berry Chocolate Panini Sandwich with Wine Reduction Sauce
The wine reduction sauce was made with Gallo Family Vineyards Cafe Zinfandel. The Cafe Zinfandel is a sweet, smooth, light wine with hints of strawberries, raspberries and watermelon flavors. We loved this wine and enjoyed having a glass of it with our sandwich! 🙂 Gallo Family Vineyards Cafe Zinfandel was the inspiration for my recipe. When I saw that the Cafe Zinfandel had hints of strawberries and went well with chocolate and picnic food, this sandwich just popped in my head! I knew I had to take all of those things and make one heck of a grilled cheese sandwich!!
Gallo Family Vineyards Cafe Zinfandel
The first thing I did was make the wine reduction sauce by taking Gallo Family Vineyards Cafe Zinfandel and heated it in a pot with a dash of sugar and vanilla extract. I cooked it for about 25 minutes until it reduced to half. The reduction sauce didn’t turn out as thick as I wanted it to, but it still was amazing tasting. I had leftover sauce so I used it on my salad as a dressing and also drizzled some on my vanilla ice cream. The reduction sauce is so good, I swear I could have drank it!!
Berry Chocolate Panini Sandwich with Wine Reduction Sauce
Then I took fresh strawberries, blueberries and raspberries and mashed it up and placed it on the bottom of my bread. I topped my berries with wine reduction sauce and shaved dark chocolate. Then I took one of my favorite cheeses, brie and placed it over top of the chocolate. The cheese added a little bit of a salty taste that complimented the chocolate perfectly. I love sweet and salty together. But don’t worry the saltiness of the cheese did not over take the sandwich. Really everything went so well together. I was pleasantry surprised.
Berry Chocolate Panini Sandwich with Wine Reduction Sauce
Due to the fact that I made a fat sandwich I decided to cook it in a panini maker because I didn’t want to flip it. As you can see from the pictures the sandwich can be a tad messy. But trust me, you won’t lose one little bit of it. This sandwich is a total treat sandwich, and is wonderful to share with someone you love. Think of a romantic night with chocolate, cheese, fruit and wine. I know if I was served this sandwich I would ever be so grateful.

  • 2 tsp. sugar
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • ¼ cup mixed berries (strawberries, raspberries & blueberries)
  • 2 slices artisan french bread
  • 1 oz dark chocolate, shaved
  • ½ oz brie cheese, sliced thin

Berry Chocolate Panini Sandwich with Wine Reduction Sauce
I have had so much fun creating this grilled cheese sandwich. It has everything I love all smushed together between bread. Sigh… So good!! I need to make this again!!  I have to tell you I was so excited to write this post today that I smiled, giggled and laughed all the way through it!   I think I kind of have a thing for wine, chocolate and cheese.

Happy Thursday! We have been having 100 degree wea Happy Thursday! We have been having 100 degree weather for the past couple of days, but now we are going to cool off into the 70’s. Such a big change, that it’s going to feel cold.
🌸
My plants have seemed to have survived the heat pretty good, except for my Black Eyed Susan’s that I planted a few weeks ago. Hopefully they will bounce back with the cooler weather we will get.
🌸
This is a photo of my garden that I took a couple of days ago. It’s filling in nicely. I planted a small Mexican Sunflower plant a few weeks ago and I’m looking forward to watching it grow. I planted one last year and it grew so fast that it ended up collapsing and I had to tear it out. I’m hoping planting a smaller one, it will get more if a root system and hold up to its height. It’s such a cool plant with beautiful orange flowers.

It’s such a pretty space to see and I love how you can make the outdoors an extension of your home. I loved looking out my window and seeing my table. Now I wouldn’t leave it up like I do my dining room, but it was fun to keep it up for the day.
🌸
Now let me tell you, it is so hard for me to photograph outside. I tried to do it before sunrise and I tried again at sunset. Ugh! I just can’t get the right lighting. I don’t know how so many people make there outdoors look so pretty. If you have any tips, let me know. I’d appreciate that.

🌿
Speaking of Christmas, I don’t think I have showed you my console table me since then. I finally finished decorating it. It’s been half done for about a month. Before that, it was an awful catch all space.
🌿
I decided to stick to the greens, neutrals and for some added color yellow. I really like using yellow this time of year. I noticed I started decorating with yellow in my dining room and it trinkled into my living room.

It worked for about 3 weeks. I was on stories yesterday, showing other parts of the garden and I turned around and saw Sully in my garden. I must have screamed so loud. Happy Wednesday! We are half way through the week. Happy Wednesday! We are half way through the week. I can’t believe that this weekend is Mothers Day. It just seems early this year. I am not sure what are plans are going to be this weekend?
🌷
I am sharing with you the @krumpetshomedecor deal of the week. It’s a set of two mango wood trays with a beautiful rope handle.
🌷
The bigger tray I used to make a tulip arrangement. It’s such a great size. The last photo is also how I used the tray on my bed. The smaller tray is perfect for holding my olive oils in my kitchen. These trays will fit in about any space. I just love them.
🌷
Don’t forget that Krumpets Home Decor is having 25% off there whole site. Plus you can use my 10% off discount code on top of the sale price: PBANDP. The link is in my bio.
🌷
Do you have any plans for Mothers Day?
