Hi Everyone!
I have to laugh, my Husband was watching the news and he said it’s 4 million dollars for 30 seconds of ad space during the Super Bowl. He said why don’t you put my blog on there? ha ha If you did that, I wonder how many views do you think you would get that day? Hmmmm, wish I had 4 mill to find out. lol
Today I have for you a recipe that I found on Food Networks website. This is Guy Fieri’s French Onion Dip. Of course I took his basic dip and modified it to be a little more healthy. At first when I tried it, I thought it was good, but not spectacular, then I had it the next day! Oh my gosh!! So good! The flavors need to sit together for a few hours to all come together. I was pretty impressed with this dip!! It’s savory, creamy and I am loving the little chunk of onions!
I decided on making French Onion Dip because I miss my Bison Chip Dip that seems to only be available in Buffalo. It has been a trillion years since I have had it, but man, that stuff was good! I remember as a kid, sitting with my Mom, eating pretzels and dip. Those were the good old days! Since I left Buffalo, I haven’t for the life of me found a good french onion dip until now. I’ll tell ya, nothing really beats homemade and nothing beats a healthier version. Loving guilt-free food!!
I guess from the photo above, you can tell who’s, who’s on this plate! I love the crunch of celery and my Husband loves his Wavy Lays. lol This dip is pretty easy to make, the longest part is caramelizing the onions, which wasn’t to bad. Once you make the onions, you just have to let it cool and mix everything together and refrigerate until ready to use. As I said above, make this the day before you need it, for the most awesome flavor!!
- 2 tbsp. canola oil
- 1 tbsp. butter
- 2 Vidalia onions, sliced into ¼-inch rings (about 4 cups)
- 2 cups Greek Yogurt
- 1 cup mayonnaise, fat free
- 1 tsp. celery salt
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- 2 tsp. Worcestershire
- 1 tsp. freshly ground black pepper
- 1 tsp. salt
- In a large saute pan over medium high heat, add oil and butter. When butter is melted, add onions and saute stirring occasionally until golden brown and caramelized, about 25 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool for 5 to 6 minutes. I placed two paper towels on a plate and put the onions on the paper towel and than I squeezed out the extra oil. Leaving the onions, on the paper towel, I carefully chopped into ¼-inch pieces. Set aside to cool to room temperature.
- Meanwhile, in a medium bowl, combine yogurt, mayonnaise, celery salt, garlic powder, worcestershire, salt and pepper. Fold in onion mixture. Chill at least 1 hour or overnight for better flavor, prior to serving.
One thing I love about the Super Bowl is creating such fun and tasty finger foods! I swear I could skip the big meals and just eat finger food all day!
Are you having a Super Bowl party or going to one? If so, what do you plan to make or bring?
Well my Friends, time to do some more cooking!
Have a great day!
Toodles,

That looks so good! Too bad I can’t get to the store before the game so I can buy some greek yogurt to make this dip. However, I will be going to a superbowl party and I’m bringing Trader Joe’s Chocolate Truffle brownie mix! I’ve been wanting to make these for a long time, but I didn’t want a whole tray of brownies in the house at my disposal–because I would eat them all. So bringing them to a party and only having a few and letting everybody else eat the rest seems like the perfect idea!!!

Ohh, you have to let me know how the brownie mix is. I have been wanting to try it!! I’d take them to a party too because I would eat them all! 🙂
