Honey Roasted Pretzel Peanut Butter

July 5, 2012 By Jennifer @ PB and P Design 33 Comments

Hi Everyone,

I have been crazy busy this Fourth of July!  I cooked, baked, blogged and then did it all over again!!  I hope you like the goodies that I made for you!!  There just doesn’t seem to be enough time in the day to make everything I want, nor is my stomach big enough to handle it all!!   I normally blog what I eat for breakfast and dinner or a baked good for the week, but due to some crazy unplanned evenings I’m kind of falling behind on cooking.  So I apologize if some of my dishes are quick or the photos aren’t so great!  I’m really trying hard to get things done!!

Remember yesterday I said I was out of Peanut Butter?  I had and I mean had to make some!!  So today I made my latest peanut butter creation and I must say it is salty good!

Before I tell you about my Honey Roasted Pretzel Peanut Butter, I have a funny to show you that my Husband sent to me.  It made me giggle!

He he!!  I know, I know, I’m so geeky!!  I’ve been waiting two months to share this with you!  Today’s peanut butter is creamy, drippy, salty and sweet.  All the things I love all in one recipe.  I came up with the idea of using pretzels in my peanut butter from a local grocery store.  I saw a jar of it for $10.00 and thought that’s just crazy, why not make my own?  There’s had oil in it to, mine has just honey roasted peanuts, honey and pretzels.  So simple!!

This peanut butter is perfect for anyone who is craving salt with a tad hint of sweetness.  I am loving this PB!!  I thought it would be perfect to go in my yogurt and ice cream, plus dipping apples in it.  Of course I think it would still be good on a traditional PB & J sandwich!

Even though the Peanut Butter is drippy, it’s still pretty thick.  Out of all the nuts out there for making peanut butter, regular old fashions nuts are the best.  Almonds take a while to process and so do cashews.  The one thing I found between all the nuts is that peanuts process the quickest and it is the drippiest consistency with almonds coming in second.  Cashews are a wonderful sweet tasting nut butter, but it is thicker and doesn’t get as creamy as the others.  It’s my favorite nut butter for making raw cookie dough balls.   What is your favorite kind of nut butter?

  • 4 Cups of Honey Roasted Peanuts (Trader Joe's is the best)

  • 1 Tbsp. honey
Instructions
  1. If you have a small food processor 7 - 12 cups, process in two batches.
  2. In a large food processor, Add the nuts and process until smooth. You will have to push down the sides a few times. This process takes about 6 minutes. Then add honey and pretzels. Process until drippy! About another 5 minutes. Taste to make sure it's sweet enough for you.
  3. Place in a bowl or jar and stir in remaining ¼ cup of crushed pretzels.

I don’t ever refrigerate my peanut butter. If it seems to be getting to runny, then I place it in the refrigerator. But for safety guidelines, your suppose to put PB in the refrigerator.

PB and pretzels are a wonderful combo, and even better slathered on a banana! Great, simple recipe, yum! I want to try just mixing a lot of nuts to make a “kitchen sink” butter and also just pistachios. But I agree with you, plain peanut butter is hard to beat!

This recipe has been in my “to make” file for a while and, yesterday, I finally got around to it. I only had cinnamon crisp pretzels, so that’s what I used. Absolutely delicious! The honey roasted peanuts with the hint of cinnamon is a delicious combination! I also used NuNaturals stevia drops instead of honey for a small calorie savings. The problem is that I couldn’t stay out of this!

Happy World Kindness Day! This weekend I made my a Happy World Kindness Day! This weekend I made my annual snow jar to place on my shelf in the kitchen. You get a tiny sneak peak of my shelves at the end of the reel. The snow jars are so easy to do and you probably have most of the items on hand.
💗
For the snow, I used blanket snow. You could also use, sugar or Epsom salt. I like the blanket snow because it’s not messy and it hides the fairy lights battery pack.
💗
The houses are ornaments that I bought at Target. I thought they were Perfect for my pink kitchen. Of course you can use whatever you have on hand. It doesn’t have to be a house and tree.
💗
If you buy fairy lights, make sure they have a timer on them. Trust me that will make life easier. If you don’t like fairy lights, you can use a faux candle.
Ohhh and have a stack of batteries. I go through more batteries in the month of December then I do the rest of the year!

Items used:
Apothecary jar
Fairy lights with timer
Pink house ornament
Bottlebrush tree
Pink ribbon

Everything, but the pink ribbon was bought at Target.

Happy Monday! Sorry I haven’t been on in awhile. Happy Monday! Sorry I haven’t been on in awhile. My husband was sick with the flu, then he passed it on to me. My dog even had an upper respiratory infection. Ugh! It was a rough 2 weeks. Then on Friday I had surgery to remove skin cancer on my chest. I’m sore and I can’t lift or exercise. Anyway, that’s why I have not been on.
🦇
I wanted to give you one last look at my Halloween kitchen before I change it out. Not sure if I’m going to add some Fall or Christmas next. Did you know Christmas is in 63 days? 😳
🦇
So I have been thinking about Christmas colors. The past 2 years I have done green and I love it, however I have always wanted to do a pink Christmas. Just not sure if I can pull it off? I don’t know if I want to go crazy and buy a bunch of pink? What color are you doing this year?

Have a great day!!

It’s time for my annual pumpkin bath picture. I It’s time for my annual pumpkin bath picture. I don’t know what it is, but I love to give pumpkins a bath. Don’t they look cute bathing in the sunlight with bubbles around them? lol
🎃
There are two methods that I have used in the past; the chlorine bath and the dish soap bath. This is what I have learned.
🎃
My favorite and only way I wash pumpkins now is using dish soap. It gets rid of the sap and makes them clean. I soak my pumpkins for about 20 minutes. The pumpkins will last until December. Plus if you keep your pumpkins after the holidays it will decay and grow pumpkins the following year. Plus it’s safe for animals that may nibble on your pumpkin.
🎃
The chlorine bath method will make your pumpkins last possibly up to a year. They take very long to break down and I never got my pumpkins to seed themselves. Plus it is not safe for animals in my opinion. Though Clorox Bleach says it’s safe, they just taste salty.
🎃
The key to washing pumpkins is to make sure that you get the area around the stem dry. You don’t want water around the stem. This could make your pumpkin rot sooner. So after the bath, dry your pumpkins off very good.
🎃
Did you get your pumpkins yet?
.
PS if you are in the Bay Area, I highly recommend going to @threenunnsfarm to get your pumpkins. They have a wide variety and the pumpkins and are .75 a pound. I bought all these pumpkins for $42.
