Egg Salad Supreme / Giveaway

September 29, 2012 By Jennifer @ PB and P Design 116 Comments

Hi Everyone,

Wow, I am so excited for today!!  This is my first post out of 7 that I will be making and sharing with you from Emeril Lagasse’s new cookbook Kicked-Up Sandwiches.  You know me and sandwiches!  I love them, I could so eat them everyday!!!  When I had the opportunity to be apart of the group with 20 other bloggers, I couldn’t resist, after all it’s food and Emeril, and you know those two go together like Peanut Butter and Jelly!!!

When my cookbook arrived this week I was almost overwhelmed by all the sandwiches in the book, plus all of the homemade bread recipes (mmm, bread), cookies, dips and spreads and so much more.  My biggest problem was and still is, what to make first?  Anything that can be sandwiched together, it’s in this book.  There is something in here for everyone!  My Husband was thumbing through the book the other night and he picked out 5 sandwiches right off the bat.  Needless to say if I want him to do his chores, I have to make sandwiches.  Hey, you have no arguments from me!!  I feel like Joey Tribbiani from Friends, you know how he loved sandwiches, well I’m right up there with him!!

I was informed that we can post the recipes for various sandwiches and I saw this one for Emeril’s Egg Salad Supreme and I knew I had to make it!  I have never made an egg salad sandwich. That is so odd of me, I know!  Since it was warm out, and I didn’t feel like turning the stove on, I made this sandwich for myself for dinner.  Your suppose to let it chill for a couple of hours, but I didn’t.  I really have no patience to wait!!  My sandwich doesn’t look as pretty as his, but mine tasted super duper delicious!  The kick of paprika is what really made this egg salad sandwich standout!  Another bonus of this sandwich is it can be made in advance, so you can make it for lunch!!  I love that!!

Here’s a simple, delicious sandwich. The dry mustard and paprika give it a wonderful surprising wasabi-y or horseradish-y accent.
Serves: 6 Sandwiches
Ingredients
  • 12 hard-boiled eggs
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon dry mustard
  • ½ teaspoon hot Hungarian paprika
  • ¼ cup minced shallot
  • ¼ cup chopped green onion or fresh parsley leaves
  • ¼ cup minced celery
  • ½ cup mayonnaise, homemade (see page 309) or store-bought
  • 12 slices White Sandwich Bread (page 303)
Instructions
  1. 1. Roughly chop the eggs and place them in a mixing bowl. Add the salt, mustard, paprika, shallot, green onion, celery, and mayonnaise. Stir with a rubber spatula or a spoon until very well blended. Transfer to a container, cover, and refrigerate for at least 2 hours and up to 4 days.
  2. 2. Spread ¼ to ½ cup of the egg salad between 2 slices of bread. Repeat with the remaining salad and bread.

Happy Wednesday! This past weekend I did a little Happy Wednesday! This past weekend I did a little furniture rearranging in my dining room. I decided to move my kitchen cart to the opposite side of my room, and I love it in its new spot.
🍂
If you remember, I fixed the nail holes in this wall, so I could hang a normal picture. I love how centered my nail is. lol It’s the little things.
🍂
Now before anyone says anything. I covered my light switch with my picture. I never use it, so it doesn’t effect me.
🍂
Speaking of pictures, how gorgeous is my sign from @krumpetshomedecor? It’s a fabulous size and I am calling it the moving sign. If you watched my reel last week, you will see that I used the spider side of the sign in my kitchen. I thought the fall side would be perfect in my dining room. Now I actually plan to move the sign again to my living room when I bring out the Fall bins. I have an idea in my head.
🍂
This little area of my home is what I am calling my transition from summer to fall. I have a little bit of rich end of summer colors with natural woods and my leaves.
🍂
The falling leaves reversible sign is the Krumpets Home Decor deal of the week. Plus you get an additional 10% off with code: PBANDP. Link in my bio.
🍂

Hello Everyone! I have to apologize for not to get Hello Everyone! I have to apologize for not to getting to everyone’s comments yesterday. I am still working on them. I was a little overwhelmed yesterday. Typical Monday. Plus to boot my husband got the big “C”🦠 So I have been dealing with that.
🌼
I thought I would share with you a very simple way of styling a bowl. It would be beautiful on an entry, console or dining room table. The bowl is from the Targets Studio McGee line.
🌼
Hope you have the best day.

🐾
If you remember, I didn’t want another dog when Sampson passed last August, but Samuel was a blessing in disguise. He has helped me heal.
🐾
I will be back tomorrow with decor. Have a wonderful Monday!

Happy Wednesday! I have to tell you that I am so e Happy Wednesday! I have to tell you that I am so excited that we put the dog crate away. It took up so much room in the kitchen and now it looks so open. I just wish my kitchen was wide enough for an island.
👻
I didn’t lose my mind decorating for Halloween. However @krumpetshomedecor is having there Fall and Halloween launch. So much fun! The sign above the door is the Krumpets Home Decor deal of the week. It is a gorgeous one. I just love both sides. I used the Halloween side right now because it matches my coffee bar. Plus I feel that way when people come to my home with my dogs. lol
👻
Also, the pillow and the Halloween sign on the side of the door is also from Krumpets Home Decor.
👻
Now my kitchen just needs a rug. As I said yesterday my dogs eat rugs, so I’m looking for one to go in front of the door that dogs won’t have a desire to eat. Sheesh!

Happy Tuesday! I thought I would share one last lo Happy Tuesday! I thought I would share one last look at the guest bathroom before the Fall season arrives. Pretty soon it will be filled with pumpkins.
💙
I actually have not changed any of the decor in the bathroom since February of this year. I love how it looks and didn’t want to change it.
💙
The plants in the tub were in my living room, but with having puppies, they were eating them and they are poisonous, so I put them in the tub and they have survived and doing well.
💙
The rug on the floor is from @studiomoutdoor. It’s a vinyl rug that is so perfect for cleaning up after the dogs. Plus they don’t eat these rugs! Yes, they have eaten all the rugs in my house, except for the dining room rug. Sigh….
💙
Do you have a room in your house that you don’t want to redecorate because you like it the way it is?

Happy Monday! Boy this weekend flew by and I didn’t get much done around the house. Though I am slowly starting to put away some summer stuff.
🍋
But before putting away the lemons, I had to do a summer tiered tray. I haven’t made a tiered tray in months. I love how light and bright it is. It matches my kitchen nicely.
🍋
Here are the sources for my tiered tray:

Happy Friday Eve! So happy it’s almost the weeke Happy Friday Eve! So happy it’s almost the weekend. This Saturday we have to take the dogs to the vet. Oh man! That’s a thing. The dogs drop dead on the driveway and refuse to go in the car. They do this going there and back. It’s a comedy scene, and so embarrassing. Not fun! lol
💙
I put together a little vignette for my kitchen counter. You are probably thinking, she always shares the kitchen. It’s because I do my day job at the kitchen counter and I get all these new ideas in my head and I just have to share.
💙
I am loving the blue with the yellow and the green. It feels light and fresh. I also love my new candle from @candleberrycandle the scent is Bergamot Amber. It maybe my favorite scent from the collection. The scent is a mix of blue amber and oak with a vibrant burst of citrus and exotic florals.
💙
Now through July 22nd Candleberry is having a pre-sale on the new Nouveau candle line. The official launch is August 1st. If you sign up for emails you get 15% off.
💙
Disclosure: do not burn your candles under your cabinets. I did this to show the candle. I always burn my candles in an open area.

Happy Wednesday! I am excited to finally share wit Happy Wednesday! I am excited to finally share with you my coffee bar. I kept starting to decorate it, then I’d get stuck and then the season would change and there it would sit for months bare. lol
☕️
I love the new look. It’s simple, has what we need and looks light and fresh. My husband actually noticed and said it was his favorite coffee bar yet. Then brings up how he hates the white fluffy stuff I use on the shelves for Christmas. I told him, I’m using the snow again this winter. He gives me the look.
☕️
The Coffee sign is from @krumpetshomedecor. It’s reversible and I think the perfect addition to my coffee bar. The color and style go fabulous with my decor pieces.
☕️
The sign is also the Krumpets Home Decor deal of the week. Plus you get an additional 10% off with code PBANDP. The link is in my bio.

Hi Everybody! Happy #tiptuesday. I am sharing with Hi Everybody! Happy #tiptuesday. I am sharing with you a simple way to make your floral displays last longer. I learned this trick from a local florist.
🌸
Ingredients:
4 cups of water (1 liter)
3 tbsp. Sugar
2 tbsp. Distilled Vinegar

Add sugar and vinegar to water. Stir until dissolved. Add flowers. Try to take off as many leaves as possible.
🌸
The sugar nourishes the flowers and the vinegar will stop bacteria growth.
🌸
After I put this arrangement together, I decided to take out the yellow flowers and cut the bouquet down a little. I think it looks better. I bought these flowers from the farmers market.
