Happy Thursday! I’m sharing a throwback photo from last year. I get lots of questions about my birdbath and I thought I would explain to you how I made it.

I decided to make a birdbath for a few reasons. Number one reason is birds!! Well we know that. The second is that it’s really windy where I live and I wanted a birdbath that would be sturdy and not blow over.

The third reason is that birdbaths can be really costly for a well made one. I’ve seen them up near $300. I didn’t want to spend that.

To make the birdbath, you need two things. A flower pot and a shallow bowl. For an add on option, you can add a solar fountain.

What I did was buy a flower pot that I liked. You can pretty much use a pot in any color and size that you like.

I took a shallow bowl that is about 2” deep and about 20” wide that I already had and placed the bowl on top of the flower pot and that is your birdbath. Make sure the bowl sits sturdy on the pot and doesn’t rock when you touch it.

If you want to try a birdbath without going through the making of a birdbath. Place just the bowl on the ground, or on a table in the place you would want the birdbath. That’s what I did before making my birdbath. The birds came. That’s what inspired me to get the flower pot.

I did add a solar fountain to grab the attention of the birds, which I bought it on Amazon. Go grab a spare pot and a bowl that you may have on hand and give it a try.

One last note, I recommend putting the birdbath in the sun. They seem to like to bathe in the sun. Silly birds!!

Happy Wednesday! I have to tell you, this heat wave we are having is exhausting. Though this weekend we are supposed to be in the low 80’s, which is perfect weather for me. I keep telling my plants to hang on, you can beat this heat! lol

I finally finished styling my coffee table. My friend Judy recommended that I should add some candles to give the vignette some height. She was right! I love it!! I found the candlesticks hidden in my China cabinet when I was cleaning it out. That was a good find. I bought them from Target over a year ago and I never used them.

Actually all the decor on the tray is from good old Target! Love my Target. Actually I need to make a Target run today. I’m almost out of milk. Don’t you love my excuse to go there? Truth is, the milk is about half the cost of my grocery store.

The gorgeous tray is @fromsusie. I saw Susie styling it and I knew I had to have it. It’s the perfect size, so well made and very heavy. It’s a Susie exclusive and made in Texas. I’m normally not a gold person, but I’m loving the gold band and handles. It gives a warm look and goes so beautiful with natural elements.

Hi Everyone! You know I have an obsession with plants and flowers, well there is another obsession I have, and it’s solar lights.

My husband tells me that I’m making a runway for planes. Well little does he know, I have some more solar lights hidden in the closet.
🌿
This weekend we put up fairy lights on my garden fence. I just love it. There is just something about those twinkling lights that I just love.
🌿
Off the subject of solar lights, we are getting hit with a major heat wave. We are still in the 90’s. My new plants are struggling. Since I can’t water them in fear of burning their leaves, I’ve been putting ice cubes around them. It seems to work, but my ice cube maker ran out. Hopefully it’ll make more tonight.

If your interested in my solar lights, I bought them all from Amazon. They are in my store under Outdoor. All my lights are 1+ years old. I’ve been really happy with my purchases. Just be sure to get warm lighting if you want the yellow glow. I’m not a fan of the cool lighting, it’s to white. The link to my Amazon shop is in my bio.

Happy Monday! Hope you had a nice Mother’s Day weekend. Little Jenny and my husband took me just past Sacramento to Green Acres nursery. I’ve never been to that one. They were loaded with so much goodness. I finally was able to pick up some Zinnias and a Black Eyed Susan. Now with the mid 90’s this week, I hope they survive okay.

I’m finally sharing with you my console table that took me weeks to decorate. I’m still sticking to my gardening theme. By the time I’m done, I’ll be ready for pumpkins.

The faux plant that is open lantern really grew on me. You may remember I wasn’t overly impressed with it when I got it from Target. I compared it to a real Pothos plant and so many of you said if I polished the leaves on the Potho, it would look like that. You were right, it does. I guess I should clean my leaves more often.
🌿
Let’s talk about the gorgeous open lantern that the faux Pothos is in. I got it @fromsusie. It’s made in Texas, comes in 3 sizes, the one here is the medium and it also comes in 3 colors. I have the small one on my shelf in the kitchen. If your interested, the link to From Susie is in my bio.

One last thing, look at the real fern in the crate. I got it from Trader Joe’s about a month ago and it’s still alive. I can’t believe it. It’s the longest that I’ve ever kept a fern alive. I’m so proud. Hope saying this out loud doesn’t kill it. lol

Full Sun Container Garden. Happy Friday! I thought it would be fun to share a flower container garden. This would make a great gift for Mother’s Day, or to give to a neighbor, friend or keep for yourself.

The flowers and plant in this container are all annuals that take full sun. Water when the top 2” of soil dries out. Here is the list of plants I used.
🌸
Foxglove - full sun to partial shade, hardy in zones 4-10. This flower is highly toxic to animals and humans. It is a hummingbird and bee favorite. Wear gloves when touching this plant.
🌸
Sweet Potato Vine - full sun, annual and perennial in zone 11. Grows 3-6’ wide and up to 10’ long. This plant is toxic to animals.
🌸
Lime Light Petunia- full sun annual. Grows about 8-12”. Attracts hummingbirds.

I love the colors and combination of these plants. The container will really fill out this spring and summer. We’ll see how the flowers grow this season.

Go grab a container, get some potting soil and find some plants you love and make your own container garden.

Hi Everyone! This week I shared lemons and I thought I would switch it up to oranges! Who doesn’t love oranges? You know my husband does, since we are now the proud owner of a Cara Cara orange tree. This is orange tree number 3.

I thought it would be fun to put together this vignette on my new gold and white tray that I got @fromsusie. It’s so beautiful and quite large. I’m currently decorating the tray for my coffee table. I’ll share it when I put it all together.

The faux orange tree came from Target. I was walking to my car with the tree and I had a lady stop me in the parking lot asking if it were real. She said she’s going to get one. lol

Oh and you guys are bad! When I shared my vignette with the Trader Joe’s Italian Grapefruit soda, you said I need to try the blood orange one. I went to three Trader Joe’s and I couldn’t find it. I was on a mission, then gave up. I went back to my Trader Joe’s when they opened and sure enough, there it was. You were right! It is so good. I’m not a soda drinker, but I’m addicted.

I can’t believe it’s Mother’s Day already. It seems early this year. I always wonder, who picks the dates for some of these holidays? Well, I got my Mom her gift, so Mom, if you read this, your gift will arrive on Thursday. Don’t let it sit out on your porch to long. Just saying.

My theme is a light outdoor snack with wonderful conversation. I do not have a dining table outside, so I thought it would put a white table cloth over my outdoor coffee table. I think it works for the occasion.

I added a few simple pieces to dress up the space like a mason jar full of ranunculus, a little candle and Trader Joe’s Italian Soda. I’m addicted to their sodas.

On the menu, I’m serving up Trader Joe’s Vanilla Bean Scones. Have you ever had them? They are so good. I wanted to originally serve a salad, but it was like hurricane winds when I was photographing. I didn’t want lettuce everywhere. lol

Oh and get this! Samantha was sitting all pretty in front of the table, so I went to take a photo. She started to get up and just like her brother, she’s sticking her tongue out. I thought she was the good one? Swipe the photo to see Samantha.

Hey, hey, hey! It’s coming! It’s coming! I was going through my photos and I got my peonies last year on May 13th. So Peony season will be her in the next week or so. I’m soooooo excited.

This photo is a flash back to that magical day that I brought home my first bunch of peonies in 2020. Such fun times. I’m sure you’ll be getting flowers in the sink in the next couple of weeks. I have the urge to splurge on flowers.

Do you ever look back on your photos and see how your style or your setup has changed? In this photo, I used my cake stand to hold my soap and now I have a tray. There’s the lemon tea towel that I shared yesterday. Plus I have a different runner rug. So many little changes in a year.
