Cajun Seasoning (Unsalted)

Hi Everyone,

One of my favorite things to make is seasoning.  It’s a great way to add a little flair of flavor to any dish you from chicken, beef, vegetables and even dips and spreads.  One of my favorite seasonings is Cajun flavor.  It takes me back to the time I was in New Orleans and when I want a little Southern flavor I add a pinch of Cajun Seasoning to my dish.

The Cajun seasoning is made with basic pantry items and it’s a great recipe to make when you are cleaning out the pantry.  The seasoning has a little bit of a smokey flavor with a pinch of heat.  Most Cajun Seasonings have salt in it.  I use salt for flavoring just about everything, so I skipped it in this recipe.  Plus if you want a big punch of flavor without it being to salty, this is the perfect recipe.  One thing about salt you can add more to a recipe, but if you have too much, you can’t take it away.  That is why I went for unsalted version.

I use this seasoning on chicken, vegetables, baked potato and even in hummus.  It’s very versatile.  it’s make with simple ingredients such as onion powder, paprika,  thyme, oregano, chili powder and a few more ingredients.  I added all of my ingredients to a bowl, then to make it more smooth and break down the chili flakes and bay leaf, I put it in a mini food processor and processed until it was all combined and broken down.  It smells so good too!
