Hi Everyone,
Happy Monday to you! Today I am sharing with a simple recipe with lots of flavor. For dinner the other night I made myself a steak, but I needed a vegetable to go with it. I had some asparagus in the refrigerator that I needed to use it. I didn’t want basic steamed asparagus so I decided to zip it up by steaming it with garlic and orange juice. OMG! It is delish. What a fun and easy way to add different flavor to asparagus.
Sometimes asparagus can tend to be a little bitter. Adding the orange juice tends to cut the bitter flavor away. All I did was heat up some olive oil and garlic; added my asparagus and orange juice. Let it steam for 5 minutes and it was done. It can’t get any easier than that. The asparagus is tender, a little bit sweet and savory. I felt the need to add salt and pepper to the dish.
- 1 bunch Asparagus
- 1 tbsp. olive oil
- 1 tsp. garlic, minced
- 1 cup orange juice
- Over medium low heat; in a large sauce pan add olive oil and garlic. Cook for 30 seconds. Add asparagus, and orange juice. Cover and let steam for 5 minutes or until fork tender. The asparagus will turn bright green in color.
- Serve immediately.
Well that’s it for me. I have to admit it’s nice making vegetables. It’s been awhile since I have made a nice dinner. Wait till Sunday when you see what I paired my asparagus with.
Have a great week!
Toodles,
Jennifer
