Baked Buffalo Chicken Wings #SundaySupper

January 18, 2015 By Jennifer @ PB and P Design 40 Comments

Hi Everyone,

Today for #SundaySupper we are sharing with you our hometown favorites. Well I currently live in Northern California, but I am originally from Buffalo, NY.  So today I thought I would share with you a Buffalo favorite and I bet you can guess what that is,  Chicken Wings!  That is one thing I miss from Buffalo is chicken wings, pizza, roast beef, sponge candy and good old Italian restaurants.  One thing Buffalo has going for its self is the food.  I’m drooling thinking of it.  It’s worth trip to good old Buffalo just to eat. Just don’t do it in the winter time as you may know they get their fair share of snow.  That is one thing I do not miss!  So today, I am taking my Buffalo favorite and healthifying it a tad bit by baking my chicken wings.

Baked Buffalo Chicken Wings #SundaySupper

I have grilled chicken wings before, but I never baked them.  I have to say they turned out juicy, crisp and simply perfect.  I couldn’t stop eating them.  I was a little concerned that baking them, that they would lose all of their chicken wing charm, but it didn’t.  I can’t believe they actually turned out crispy.  For baking them, I placed them on a baking rack on my baking sheet.  Here is an Instagram shot I took of the wings before they went in the oven.  For the hot sauce I used Franks Hot Sauce.  That to me is the original sauce for chicken wings.  When I was 18 I used to work in a pizzeria and we used Franks Hot Sauce for the wings.  It’s the only way to go!

Baked Buffalo Chicken Wings #SundaySupper

The recipe is so easy and is only 3 ingredients; butter, hot sauce and chicken.  I bought my chicken with wing and drumstick attached.  Just cut the wing with kitchen scissors between the wing and drumstick and cut the wing tip off.  So easy, it took like 2 minutes to do this.  For the calories, it is less than what I am sharing with you.  I threw out the wing tips and I know that the calories are different between the wing and drumstick.

To make the wings I just placed them in my broiler and cook for 12 minutes, flip and cook for another 10 minutes, until crispy.  No greasy mess and no smelly fried foods.  I hate the smell of fried foods.  I will bake whenever I can.  Plus honestly, I can’t eat friend foods anymore, except french fries, it just doesn’t agree with me.

Traditional Buffalo Chicken Wings made healthier by baking and not frying. Made with Franks Hot Sauce and butter. The perfect appetizer!
Author: Jennifer Drummond
Recipe type: Appetizer
Cuisine: American
Serves: 12 wings
Ingredients
  • 1¼ lbs. chicken wings (12 wings including drum sticks)
  • 3 tbsp. butter
  • ½ cup Franks Hot Sauce
Instructions
  1. In a microwave safe bowl (I found a Pyrex measuring cup works great), melt butter; approx 45 seconds. Stir in hot sauce and mix until well combined.
  2. Place chicken wings in a bowl and add half of the hot sauce mixture. Reserve the remaining sauce for coating at the end. Let the wings sit at room temperature for 20 minutes.
  3. Meanwhile, preheat the broiler.
  4. Place a piece of aluminium foil on a baking sheet, and spray with cooking spray. Add a baking rack over the baking sheet, and spray with cooking spray; add the chicken wings. You do not need the baking rake, but I found it works best so the oil can drip onto the baking sheet, but it is not necessary.
  5. Place the chicken in the oven and broil for 12 minutes, flip and broil for another 10 - 12 minutes, until the skin is crispy.
  6. Re-heat the hot sauce until warm; about 30 seconds. Coat the chicken in the remaining hot sauce. Serve hot with blue cheese and celery.
Notes
Please note, that I clipped the wings and the calories are less than what is in this recipe. I tried to calculate it the best I can on this one.

I’m so glad you shared this baked recipe for wings. All that grease from frying is so not needed and the butter flavor really comes through.

Happy Monday! I’m sharing with you a rare view o Happy Monday! I’m sharing with you a rare view of my kitchen. What’s so rare about it! It’s clean. 🤣
.
So this weekend our refrigerator broke. The freezer no longer works and the fridge is not getting cool enough. Ugh!! We bought our Whirlpool refrigerator about 4 years ago and spent near $3000 for it. It sure didn’t last long.
.
After reading reviews on a million refrigerators, they all seem like crap. I need your help! Do you have a refrigerator that you recommend?
.
I saw a Frigidaire one that we are debating on, but not sure? The reviews are good, but says, they were collected from a promotion. So I’m not sure how much I trust that? Anyway, any recommendations that you have would be great!

Have a great day!

🐰
I have to say my new favorite item is the towel holder. It’s so cute and practical. I don’t have a hand towel rack and I hated leaving my towels on my counter. I saw the towel holder from Target and had to get it. It’s the Hearth and Hand brand.
🐰
I added some bunnies for Spring and a touch of pink for some color. The hand towels are from Homegoods. They have so many bunnies and Easter decor. I had to control myself because I was with my husband. I may go back.

I did do one little spot for Valentines, which I think is so cute. I love decorating with Valentines candy. I can’t resist the pinks and the conversation hearts. I do not plan on going all out decorating this season, as time is going so fast, but I may add some hearts here and there.

Hi Everyone! With spring around the corner, now is Hi Everyone! With spring around the corner, now is the time to get your chores done, so when the warmer weather arrives you can enjoy it. My goal is to refresh my bedroom. I am slowly getting rid of stuff that I no longer need and slowly adding new decor. So hopefully in a few weeks it will be done. #twopageshome
♥️
The first thing I added are these stunning customized curtains that I was gifted from @twopagescurtains. Guys, I’m in love! The curtains are just so pretty! I am loving the way it shades the sun, but still lets the light in. Exactly the look I was going for.
♥️
The curtains I chose are the “Liz Linen Drape Soft”. They are a linen curtain that is environmentally friendly, hypoallergenic, long lasting, dust preventative, and breathable. They are also wrinkle free. I didn’t have to steam them. They came right out of the package ready to hang. They also come in 38 colors and 7 shadings to choose from. There is an option for everyone.
♥️
I’ll be honest I was intimidated on ordering custom curtains. I was so afraid I would order them wrong, but I didn’t. Two Pages has a measurement finder that asks you a few easy questions and boom you have your custom curtain size. It was so simple.
♥️
If you are looking for some new curtains or shades for your home, I highly recommend Two Page Curtains. I absolutely love them. They were kind enough to give my followers an 8% discount code: PBANDP. Link in bio

I am going with blues in the living room. I just find blue calming and peaceful. The first area I styled is the coffee table. Sorry about the views. I have a small, thin living room.

💗
