Baked Blackened Shrimp #BRFoodieFAM

Hi Everyone,

Today I have for you another inspired recipe from my trip to Baton Rouge.  On my trip we went to a wonderful little Bistro that served up the yummiest food.  Bistro Byronz has a menu with the most unusual treats, such as its homemade chips with Blue Cheese dressing, talk about oh my gosh!!  Check out the pic.

They also had homemade chips served with a spinach and artichoke dip. I swear I could just spoon the dip.

As an additional treat they served us Bread Pudding Bites with a Praline Dipping Sauce. This was to die for. I could have eaten the whole order. I love bread pudding and I thought it was pretty clever frying it.

Here is a sample of the brunch menu that we had. I sampled most of the dishes on the menu and they are sure to please everyone, especially me.  However, the homemade chips with the blue cheese was the biggest hit from everyone.

I was trying to be good, so I ordered the Blackened Grilled Shrimp Salad, and let me tell you amazing. I fell in love with the blackened seasoning on the shrimp.  You know I will be duplication this salad soon.

I was inspired by my salad, so I had to try making Blackened Shrimp at home and it was a crowd pleaser.

I healthified the dish by baking my shrimp with olive oil and blackened seasoning. It’s super easy to make and the shrimp turned out tender, juicy and simply amazing. Plus it was fast to make, which makes for a great week night dinner.

If you never had Blackened Seasoning, it’s slightly spicy and has a slight smoke taste to it. It would be a great compliment to chicken, beef, pork and other kinds of fish. You really can’t go wrong with it. I tried it for the first time in Baton Rouge and now I will be sure to keep it stocked in my pantry.

For a quick dinner, I served this with Zantarain’s Dirty Rice, which cooks in 90 seconds in the microwave. I bought this in Louisiana, but I looked at my grocery store and we don’t carry it. Now I shall search online to order some. I need to have this quick side dish in my life. However, I think I am going to try to make my own Dirty Rice and see how it turns out. I saw a great recipe from Emeril Lagasse, and you know he’s the king of Cajun, so stay tuned for a recipe.

Baked Blackened Shrimp

A simple, slightly spicy, smokey baked shrimp that has marinated in olive oil and seasoned with Black Seasoning.
Serves: 8 servings
  • 2 lbs. shrimp, uncooked, deveined, peeled
  • ¼ cup olive oil
  • 1½ tbsp. blackened seasoning or cajun seasoning
  1. In a large oven safe dish, add shrimp, toss with olive oil and sprinkle with seasoning. Let the flavors marinate for 1 hour.
  2. Preheat oven to 350 degrees
  3. Bake shrimp for 10 minutes or until pink in color
