Hi Everyone,
I thought it would be fun to share with you recipes that I made that I felt were not blog worthy. Either the picture didn’t turn out or they were a complete bust!! Even the best of us end up with a flop or two or three….
Here is the first one for Butternut Squash Pizza. I love this pizza, it’s made with pureed butternut squash, apples and onions, baked on a tortilla shell. I have eaten this a bazillion times, but I just couldn’t get a good picture, but maybe one day I will?
This one is for Acai Blueberry Quinoa Cookies. I didn’t like the taste of the cookies, they just didn’t taste right. I felt they were most definitely not blog worthy.
Greek Breakfast Bake – This recipe had good intentions and tasted amazing, but I couldn’t get a good shot. I don’t know what was up with my eyes, but I couldn’t get a straight picture if I tried. I will have to make this again!
Baked Blueberry Pancakes – Oh man was this a flop! It tasted fair, not great and certainly not worthy of sharing with you. As you can see the pancake never puffed up at all. I wonder if I forgot the baking soda?
Vanilla Protein Blueberry Muffins – I don’t know what the heck happened in these muffins, but I swear the top was going to explode! They look like alien tops!
Here is a funny picture. Look at the tops!
Snickerway Smoothie – This is one smoothie that didn’t make the cut at all. It was really too sweet and gave me a tummy ache. I think from using too much caramel extract. Way to over powering. Plus the pictures did not turn out at all. The lighting was way off!
Vegetarian Taco Filling, this tasted pretty good and I did eat it all, but the pictures were off and so bright, plus it came out a tad watery. I’ll re-make this again for sure, with a lot of modifications.
Peanut Butter Rice Krispie Granola. This recipe was not intentional. I tried to make a healthy Rice Krispie treats and didn’t have enough ingredients and it turned out more like granola. Oh trust me, it tasted great, but not healthy, nor did the pictures turn out blog worthy.
Roasted Butternut Squash and Cranberry Quinoa. This tasted amazing! I however took the pictures at the wrong time of the day and it turned out crappy. I ate this all week in a tortilla shell. I love dishes like this and I was sad when the pictures were not good.
Here is my Left Over Cranberry Sauce Bread – I had good intentions when making this bread. I thought it would be great for a what to do with Thanksgiving Leftovers. It tasted pretty good, but the color turned out blue. I have no idea how, considering I didn’t have anything blue in the recipe and even used all purpose flour.
The color doesn’t look to blue here, until I cut it open. I thought it was my eyes when I took the photos, but then I looked at a piece and sure enough it was blue in color. I didn’t want you Guys to make it and come back and tell me my bread is blue, it just seems to weird!
Re-Fried Beans – I didn’t like the taste of these at all. My Husband and I went out to a Mexican restuarant and he ordered re-fried beans with his dinner. I never order them, but he said have a taste and I did. It tasted amazing! I loved it! I tried to re-create it and even though they look ok, mine did not taste very good! It didn’t have the restaurant taste to them that I was looking for. Needless to say we didn’t eat these.
I know I have more recipes, but these are the only ones I put in my DO NOT USE file. It’s fun to go through them and share with you my not so great recipes. After all we are not perfect and I get quite a few flops weekly and usually post them on Instagram! It keeps me motivated to try again!! That is one of the reasons, I do recipe re-makes. The recipes are good, but the photos could use some work. I am trying harder for better photography this year. I got a new camera, but for the life of me, I don’t know how to use it. Eck!! I really need to read the manual!
Do you ever have recipe flops??
Ok, now that you saw a flop, let me share with you a YUM, YUM Wednesday Recipe!! How about Grilled Cheesy Jalapeno Peppers! I remember the day I made these peppers! One thing you may not know about me, but hot spicy peppers, that I LOVE, well I am allergic to them. I can eat them, but I can’t breathe near them . When I cut hot peppers, it actually cuts the air from my throat. I still cut them, but I run cold water near me, turn my head, hold the peppers with a wet cloth and cut as fast as I can and then run outside to gasp for air. It sounds dramatic, but really it kind of is. Anyway from recipes over the years, you know nothing stops me from my precious spicy peppers. But enough about my pepper drama, these Grilled Cheesy Jalapeno Peppers are amazing! AMAZING!!!!!!!! They are loaded with cooked chicken, cream cheese and Monterrey Jack Cheese. It so creamy, slightly spicy and just darn good! The photos need some work, but I made these back in 2012 and I can guarantee I will be re-making them again, so I will take new photos! You can get the recipe here!
That’s it for me today! Please do share your recipe flops with me! I would love to hear your stories!!
Have a wonderful day!
Toodles,
Jennifer

One time I made cupcakes and the recipe called for self rising flour… I accidently bought self rising CORN MEAL! Lol. Needless to say, that was a major recipe flop!!!!

I never heard of self rising corn meal. That is so crappy! Don’t you just hate when you waste ingredients on something that turns into a flop!!

My absolute worst flop was when I ran out of propane while cooking Thanksgiving dinner! Not the recipe’s fault, but since then I always check the level of the tank when preparing to cook any special meal!

Oh no! That is horrible! I had the same thing happen during a BBQ, but not a holiday!! it’s so annoying when those kind of things happen!! I bet the rest of your Thanksgiving dinner still turned out!
