Hi Everyone!
Today for #SundaySupper our mission is to make a Valentine’s for two. That is pretty easy in my house because it’s normally just the Hubby and I and I put love into every meal, so I guess I make Valentine’s for two everyday. lol Today’s recipe is something quite different, but it really screams Valentine’s Day to me and nope it doesn’t contain chocolate, but does contain ice cream!!! And you know I love ice cream!! So let me share with you my Cherry Spritzer Ice Cream Float!
This float is fantastic! It’s sweet, yet has a slight tartness to it, bubbly and simply the perfect romantic drink! It’s made with all natural tart cherry juice, sugar, all natural vanilla ice cream and the best part, the champagne. This was a random recipe I had in my head and I couldn’t wait to make it. In the morning I have about a 35 – 45 minute commute and as I am driving I spend my time thinking of recipes and as soon as I get to work I write them down so I don’t forget. This recipe was one of those thoughts.
Not only does the float taste delish, but I also think it is so pretty. It has a beautiful red color and with the champagne and the ice cream, it has a frosty look too. This is the perfect after dinner Valentine’s drink. You can have this and skip dessert. Plus it’s only 140 calories! Not to shabby for a sweet drink!
- 4 oz tart cherry juice
- ½ tsp. sugar (to taste)
- ½ cup vanilla ice cream, divided
- 4 oz champagne, divided
- In a measuring cup, add cherry juice and sugar; mix until combined. Give it a taste to see if it is sweet enough for you.
- In two champagne glasses, add ice cream, and evenly divided the cherry juice mixture between both glasses. Top the glasses with champagne.
I just love Valentine’s Day! I don’t know if it is the chocolate, the sweets, the romance or hearts? But I love it! I am looking forward to seeing what the #SundaySupper crew made for their Valentine’s for two, so be sure to check it out!
Have a wonderful day!
Toodles,
Jennifer

Gorgeous drink and such beautiful layers of colors and flavors!
Jennifer @ Peanut Butter and Peppers says
Thank you Renee! It came out better than I thought with the color of layers. When I got ice cream on the sides of the glass, than poured the juice and champagne over it, it gave it that frosted look. And to think at first, I was upset because I could just drop ice cream in the glass without hitting the sides. 🙂

Yum! This is certainly different from the other desserts in today’s round up, I like that you went a little out of the box!

Your picture looks lovely! And what a fun change from the normal glass of champagne or wine that usually goes with VDay! I would replace the champagne with sparkling cider and this would be perfect for me and Hubby! Thanks for sharing and I hope you have a happy and YUMMY VDay! HUGS

When I drive to my parents (which is a 2.5 hour drive), my mind wanders a lot, including thinking of recipes and “writing” blog posts. Too bad I can’t write and drive 😉 I so wish I had champagne right now so I can make these.

Now this is my idea of a perfect float. I am not a fan of soda so it has been years since I enjoyed a float so this is perfect.
Jennifer @ Peanut Butter and Peppers says
I’m not a fan of soda myself, haven’t had it in 4 years, so this float was a pleasurable treat! Oh how i missed the bubbles. lol
Meggan @ Culinary Hill says
Wow, this is so fancy! And hopefully that gradient look is fool-proof because, well, I’m kind of a fool with these things. Thanks for sharing. In my opinion, nothing beats cherry-flavored anything when it comes to drinks, desserts, especially ice cream… it’s just the best.
Jennifer @ Peanut Butter and Peppers says
I am so loving cherries right now! For good cause it’s National Cherry month!

Having kidney disease I have to limit potassium- can be deadly to many people with kidney issues. I noticed that your nutrition facts are way off as dairy and cherry juice we very high in potassium and the recipe stats record 0. II believe you made an honest error but mention this simply to let know you may wish to reconsider your nutrition info sources to avoid dangerous miskakes in the future
