Good morning!
Happy Monday to you! Lets start the week out on a healthy foot, which includes chocolate! Yum, yes please! I am loving today’s Monday Smoothie! Just look and you’ll see why!
This is my Almond Mocha Smoothie. I had some leftover almond milk from my Apples and Cinnamon Baked Oatmeal and I thought, hmmm, I have never had an almond smoothie. So I whipped together a simple, tasty, chocolaty little almond treat that will be sure to put you in a good Monday mood!!
This smoothie can be put together in a matter of minutes. It’s made with unsweetened almond milk, a frozen banana, cocoa powder and a pinch of stevia to sweetened it up. It’s a great morning shake and an awesome post workout shake. It’s loaded with potassium and fiber. The potassium is great for your muscles and the fiber will fill you up!! You won’t be hungry after this smoothie!
Just because I love sweet things and a smoothie just isn’t as pretty if you don’t include whip cream, so I topped my smoothie with some dairy free whip cream and some dark chocolate shavings. Yum! This is totally optional, but I just had to do it! I have to tell you, I am loving the dairy free whip cream. It keeps its shape and it’s tasty! So much nicer than the whip cream I used to use.
- 1½ cups almond milk, unsweetened
- 2 tbsp. unsweetened cocoa powder
- ½ large banana, frozen
- ¼ tsp. almond extract
- ¼ tsp. stevia (to taste)
- ½ cup ice
- Add all of the ingredients in a blender and process until smooth.
As an option you could skip the cocoa powder and add chocolate protein powder to give yourself a protein boost!
I have to say this is the first time I actually drank almond milk and it’s pretty good, plus I love that it is low-calorie! Only 45 calories a cup. You can find almond milk, normally in the cereal isle of your grocery store, located with the boxed soy and coconut milk. So what are you waiting for? Kick those Monday blues and put a smile on your face with a chocolaty almond smoothie!
Have a super fab week!!
Toodles,
Jennifer

I saw this on Pinterest, and it looks good, I’m just confused why it’s called Almond Mocha Smoothie. There’s no coffee in it? (mocha means coffee + chocolate) I’m off go go explore your blog and see what other recipes I can find. 🙂
Jennifer @ Peanut Butter and Peppers says
Thanks Michelle! I guess I wasn’t thinking when named this recipe! 🙂
