Cinnamon Pear Oatmeal Breakfast Smoothie

September 19, 2013 By Jennifer @ PB and P Design 10 Comments

Hi Everyone,

I am so on an oatmeal smoothie kick, since last weeks Pumpkin Oatmeal Breakfast Smoothie.  This week I changed the recipe up, and made it with pear.  I got quite a few pears in my CSA box and I thought how perfect for the fall and how perfect for on oatmeal.  But not in oatmeal but in an oatmeal smoothie.  Yum!  I know I’ll be adding pears to my big bowl of oats this Fall but with it being in the 90’s, a smoothie just seems way better!  Plus it’s a breeze to whip together for running out the door or sipping it as I enjoy my morning quite time.

Cinnamon Pear Oatmeal Breakfast Smoothie

This smoothie is creamy, thick and has the most wonderful pear taste with just a hint of cinnamon. It just screams FALL!! The smoothie is sugar free, except from the natural sugar from the pear, contains lots of protein and is low fat. It has 1.5 grams of fat, which came from the oats. I used Trader Joe’s Gluten Free Rolled Oats in my recipe.
Cinnamon Pear Oatmeal Breakfast Smoothie
I made my smoothie and let it sit in the refrigerator for a couple of hours so it thickens up and gets super creamy. You can also make this the night before. Just add all of the ingredients in the blender and pop it in the fridge. In the morning, just process it and drink away. If you find the smoothie is too thick, you can always add some more milk to thin it out. If you want it right away, just make it, however the oats will be more noticeable, which is still good!! This smoothie is really filling and totally a great way to have a nutritious breakfast or if your a breakfast skipper (shame on you!) you can always have this as a mid morning snack!

Cinnamon Pear Oatmeal Breakfast Smoothie
Since I am on a morning healthy oatmeal kick I thought I would share with you a new product that I tried this past week. Have you heard of Special K’s new line Nourish? I have seen the commercials on tv and was quite intrigued to give it a try.
Special K Nourish Line
The first thing I tried was the oatmeal. You already know how much I LOVE oatmeal, so I had to try it! The oatmeal comes in a handy little container that you just fill with water and pop in the microwave for 40 seconds. Let it sit for a minute or two and give it a stir. It also comes with toppings. The one I am showing you today is the Cinnamon Raisin Pecan Hot Cereal.
Special K Nourish Cinnamon Raisin Pecan Oatmeal Pack
The oatmeal is made with 4 Superfoods; Oats, Quinoa and locally grown Wheat and Barley.  All good things that we need to feed our body inside and oat!!! Plus it has a hint of cinnamon and maple syrup. You know I love that!  🙂  I found the oatmeal to be thick and satisfying. Perfect for mornings when I can’t make breakfast at home, but can make it at work.
Special K Nourish Cinnamon Raisin Pecan Oatmeal
I’m pretty impressed with the mutli-grain oatmeal. With the toppings it is only 190 calories and contains 5 grams of fat, don’t forget there are nuts in it and it also has 5 grams of fiber and 7 grams of protein. Sounds like a good healthy breakfast to me! I really enjoyed my oatmeal! If your in need of a quick fix or an afternoon pick me up they also have the Nourish Bars. The nutritional stats are pretty much the same and come in three yummy flavors; Dark Chocolate Nut Delight (Holy Yum Yums), Lemon Twist and Cranberry Almond.  I didn’t share my new found products with my family because I am a little selfish.  When I find something I like I tend to not want to share.  I know that’s horrible of me.  But the oatmeal and bars found a new home, in my desk at work!  Now I have no excuse not to eat breakfast!  Next time your at the store, check them out and let me know what you think.  If you have already tried it, I’m curious to your opinion.

Well my friends, I am off.  I have kitchen that needs to be straighten up so I can start cooking!!

Have  a great day!

Toodles,

Jennifer

I received free Nourish products from Special K, however all opinions are my own and I do not endorse or  share with you products I don’t like. 🙂

I saw your recipe this morning and I HAD to try it. Since I have to be dairy free, I only added almond milk in lieu of yogurt and milk. You can even add ice to the blender to thicken it since no yogurt is used. Yum-a-licious!

I stay sugar free, so I found the recipe just fine. If you want this smoothy sweeter without sugar, simply bake or saute the pears before blending them. You can also use roasted/sauteed apples or bananas!

I can’t wait to try your pumpkin smoothie recipe!

My patio area is kind of an awkward space because we used to have a large pool that we took out a few years ago. We built our space around the pool. So we have lots of odd corners, but it works for us. I really like my backyard.

I went with light cool colors for my backyard space because of the heat and sun. I have always loved the coastal look. I do love to add a pop of color with flowers. Give me all the flowers!

I hope you check out everyone’s outdoor space. I love this time of year and I can always use more outdoor inspiration.

Happy Wednesday! My friend Kelly @farmtotablecreat Happy Wednesday! My friend Kelly @farmtotablecreations made a gorgeous DIY Tabletop Firepit and I had to run out and got all the pieces to make one of my own. Kelly’s is so gorgeous and fun. Perfect for evenings outside.
🩵
However, when I started to make mine I realized that my dogs are to interested in it, as you can see from the video. I was afraid they would try to get close to the fire and burn themselves. So I came up with another idea, where I could get the same effect without the fire.
🩵
A couple weeks ago my friend Claire @huntersridge_designs shared some solar candles that I thought were pretty, and would be great to use on my table. I’m a sucker for anything solar. 😂 So of course I ordered some. I decided to use the solar candles in my pot in place of the tiki fire. I think it turned out great. I just need to add a few more rocks to it, which I’ll get this weekend.
🩵
Be sure to check out Kelly @farmtotablecreations to see her firepit and also check out how Claire @huntersridge_designs styled her solar candles. Both of there accounts are inspiring.
🩵
Have a wonderful day!!

Happy Wednesday! I have spent so much time working Happy Wednesday! I have spent so much time working outside that I have not worked on decorating my dining room for Mother’s Day or Spring. It’s a bare slate as of right now. So I thought I would share with you last years tablescape that I did for Mother’s Day.
💗
This Mother’s Day,(Saturday) little Jenny is taking me to the @gratoncasino to get a pedicure and possibly lounge at the pool, if it is warm enough outside. Then we will go for a nice lunch. I can’t wait. Sunday, I’ll spend Mother’s Day with the boys. 🐶🐶

Happy Monday! I’ve had a semi-productive weekend Happy Monday! I’ve had a semi-productive weekend in between the rain and cold. It was pretty chilly to me. I did get some plants planted and my husband added a new drip line in my big garden. Hopefully my flowers will thrive better this year.
🌷
On Friday, I watched 3 episodes of Firefly Lane on Netflix. If you like girl type series, I highly recommend. It’s so well written. It’s about best friends growing older together. Unfortunately this is the last of the series. I’ll miss it. I also read that Yellowstone will come back in November and that will be the end of the series. I’ll miss that show. At least I have Virgin River to look forward too. My husband likes Virgin River too.
🌷
Anyway, here is a view of my clean kitchen. I put together this little vignette for Mother’s Day inspiration. I love the Italian Soda from Trader Joe’s, but boy does it give me bad heartburn. I always just drink a little. Actually, anything sparkling, except regular soda, gives me heartburn. So strange.
🌷
Have a great week!

Happy Saturday! Wow I haven’t shared on a Saturd Happy Saturday! Wow I haven’t shared on a Saturday in forever. Today we are getting rain again. Last week it was 90 and sunny and now back to the 60’s, but we are going to hit 90 by next weekend. I can’t wait. I’m over this wacky weather we are having.
💙
I took down my Easter decor a few weeks ago and went back to using blues and greens in the living room. I think the colors look fresh and clean. Once the weather gets nicer, I’ll start to add in some yellows. I love yellow for the summer.
💙
Next weekend is Mother’s Day. Do you have any plans for the holiday?
💙
Have a wonderful weekend!

Happy Wednesday! I am so excited to share with you Happy Wednesday! I am so excited to share with you how I styled @myclaireburke pieces that I received. Let me tell you I love Claire Burke. I have been using there products for more than 25 years.
💗
In my 20’s, I used to go to Macy’s with my mom and in the bedding department they had a section of Claire Burke. I always bought there Original Scent potpourri. It smells like spring flowers with roses and lavender and it’s also beautiful to look at.
💗
If you are looking for a Mother’s Day gift, I highly recommend. I love the Original scent, if you like a floral scent. If you are more for fresh clean scent, the Sea Salt and Grapefruit is amazing. If you like fresh linen I recommend Wild Cotton. I promise they won’t disappoint. Oh and the Electric Fragrance Warmer is also Claire Burke. Works fabulous!
💗
My Claire Burke ships fast too! They were kind enough to give my followers a 20% discount code: PBANDP.

Happy Monday! This weekend I was finally able to g Happy Monday! This weekend I was finally able to get outside and work on my patio space, but unfortunately I don’t think I’ll be able to enjoy it this week. We are back to winter temps, high winds and rain. They are calling it “May Gray”. Such weird weather this year.
🌼
I was able to put out my new rug that you all helped me to pick out. I just love the blue. I decided to go with blues and yellows for my outdoor space. I think the yellow brightens up the space. I just need to get more flowers because after all you can never have too many flowers.
🌼
I wanted to also share with you my new side table from @vicllax_outdoor. I love the white color. It really helps to brighten this space. The table is made of metal, comes in 4 colors and is easy to put together. This table is perfect for a small space too. I couldn’t be happier.
🌼
Have you setup your patio space yet?

Happy Tuesday! This weekend we had amazing weather Happy Tuesday! This weekend we had amazing weather. Sunny, light breeze and in the 70’s. I did a lot of yard clean-up. I just need some dirt and my raised beds will be ready for planting.
🌼
I planned on working on the patio area, but time just went to fast. My husband repaired the trellis that fell over from the wind. We had the Morning Glory on it, but we got rid of it because it is highly toxic to dogs. I ordered a climbing rose from Heirloom Roses that will be delivered next week.
🌼
I’m sharing with you the Beverage Tub that I bought from Target that I am using as a planter. My husband drilled 1/4” holes 4” apart on the metal insert. I added a pot to the tub to give the flowers a lift. The handles on the tub are not bendable and I didn’t want to break the flowers and I wanted it to be easier to lift the flowers out, if I decide to change the flowers.
🌼
I love the look! Once I work on the patio area, I’ll move the table and flowers to the patio area. So excited to be working outside. Have a beautiful day!

Happy Wednesday! I am sharing with you my garden f Happy Wednesday! I am sharing with you my garden from last year. I’m gearing myself up to start working in the garden this weekend. It’s supposed to be mid 70’s. So if all goes planned you will be seeing quite a few gardening posts.
🌺
Last years extreme summer heat took a major toll on my garden. I lost quite a few plants. 😫 For some reason I lost my Butterfly Bush. I plan on adding another one in the same spot. A lot of my lower flowers like Hummingbird Mint and my Coneflowers didn’t survive. We will be looking at the sprinkler system to make sure the plants are getting enough water.
🌺
At least this garden is mainly annuals, so it should fill up with some color soon. I’m unsure what to do with my other gardens as my dogs have destroyed them. They keep on digging in the dirt. Maybe I should get them a sandbox to play in?
