Pizza Wontons #SundaySupper

Happy Super Bowl Sunday!!!!!!!

Wow, its Super Bowl Sunday already!  It seems like football season just started!  Today I plan on relaxing, making some good food and watching the game.  Normally I don’t, but since the 49r’s are in it, I need to root for my home team!!  Today for Sunday Supper we had to make a recipe that we would serve for the Super Bowl.  Well today I thought, what is more perfect for the Super Bowl then pizza?

I decided instead of traditional pizza that I would whip together my Pizza Wonton.  Yum!  These are crunchy full of mozzarella cheese, cream cheese, pizza sauce and real pepperoni.  Each bite is like taking a bite of a nice crispy thin crust pizza.  Serve these up with a side of pizza sauce and you have a fantastic little appetizer.

When I made these I asked my Husband if he wanted to try one and his first reaction was, what was in it?  I know he was waiting for me to say turkey pepperoni, but I told him it was all real stuff.  No funky substitutes for him.  He was tickled pink and he ate almost all of them!!  That’s almost 30 of these!!  I must admit these wontons are pretty addicting!!  Plus they are so easy to make!  You can whip these together in about 20 minutes or so!

A crispy, savory little wonton filled with pizza sauce, cheese and pepperoni.
Serves: 30 Wontons
Ingredients
  • 4 oz cream cheese, fat free
  • 1 oz lite mozzarella cheese shredded
  • ¼ cup pizza sauce (I used Trader Joe's)
  • 8 slices pepperoni, sliced into eigths
  • 30 wonton wrappers, I used round shaped
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper, set a side
  3. In a bowl, add cream cheese, mozzarella cheese, pizza sauce, and pepperoni; mix until combined.
  4. Line the wontons onto parchment paper and evenly divide the cheese mixture into the center of the wontons, about a teaspoon per wonton.
  5. Dip your finger into some water and rub along the edges of the wonton. Carefully fold the wonton in half and make sure the sides are sealed. I used the ends of a fork to make little tine marks and to give an extra seal.
  6. Bake in oven for 11 - 15 minutes until lightly golden.
  7. Serve with pizza sauce

Time to go watch the game!!  I hope it’s not a nail biter!  Oh I have to laugh, on the news they said you should serve crunchy vegetables at the party because when people are watching the game, they get nervous and they need to crunch on something!  I guess I’m going to stock up on celery!  lol

Be sure to check out all the other goodies that the Sunday Supper group makes!  I can’t wait to see what they are bringing to the table!

Toodles,

Jennifer

P.S.  Go San Francisco!!!!!!!!
