Apple and Cinnamon Steelcut Oats (Crockpot) / Weekly Recap

December 16, 2012 By Jennifer @ PB and P Design 72 Comments

Hi Everyone,

Big day today!!!  I have for you a delish, comforting, please all recipe, a super fab giveaway and my weekly recap!!  So let’s get the ball rolling and let me show you what I woke up to this morning!!

overnight oatmeal crockpot

Yah baby!  This is my Apple and Cinnamon Overnight Oatmeal.  It is amazing!  It’s creamy, filling and so darn delicious!  My Husband actually asked me for a bowl of it this morning.  After all who can resist the smell of apples and cinnamon when you wake up?  You have to remember this is a big deal, since my Husband never eats breakfast!!!

I made this overnight oatmeal in my new Crock-Pot® Create-A-Crock™ slow cooker!  I am so loving my new funky design, check it out!

overnight oatmeal crockpot 037a

I went to the Crock-Pot® Create-A-Crock™ slow cooker and they now have a design your own Crockpot, called Create-A-Crock!  You can even add photos to it!  I skipped out on adding the photos because I couldn’t decide what I wanted.  I spent days trying to decide and I opted for skipping on the photos!  It would make a great Christmas gift for Grandma, by putting pictures of the grand kids or in my case my grand dogs on it.  Or create a football themed crockpot and add photos of your Husband or Kids at the big game!  Bring it out during football season!  Your Hubby’s friends would get a kick out of it.  Totally cool!!

Crcokpot

I am loving my funky pink circles!  It’s so me!!!  To make my overnight oatmeal, all I did was add some steelcut oats, water, apples, vanilla and a pinch of cinnamon to a bowl that fit inside my crockpot, filled the outside of the bowl with water and went to bed.  Eight hours later I had creamy, hot delicious breakfast waiting for me.  When I saw the weather last night they said high 48  and I knew it would be hard to get out of bed, yet stand in my cold kitchen and make breakfast.  Not today I didn’t.  I threw on my pink bathrobe, ran to the kitchen and grabbed me some hot comforting oats.  I cozied up in front of the tv as I watched my cooking shows.  Perfect morning!!!  Here is the oatmeal before I turned on my new Crockpot.

overnight oatmeal crockpot 002a

I didn’t add any sugar to my oats because my family has all different kinds of taste when it comes to oatmeal.  My Husband loves lots and lots of brown sugar, Little Jenny likes little sugar and me, I like maple syrup with a dollop of peanut butter!  Amazing and healthy too!!  Here are the oats fresh out of the Crockpot.

overnight oatmeal crockpot 013a

Just look how creamy and delicious it looks!  This makes for a wonderful, filling breakfast for a school or workday morning.  No fuss no mess!!!  I chose this method of placing the oats in a separate bowl, because I didn’t want it to burn and I knew I wanted 8 hours of sleep so I wouldn’t have to wake-up and worry about burnt oatmeal.  There is no way I would want to scrub that in the morning!!!  If you have leftover oatmeal, you can always refrigerate it for a few days and heat it up in the microwave.  Unfortunately we do not have any leftovers, so I will be making it again this week!!

Happy World Kindness Day! This weekend I made my a Happy World Kindness Day! This weekend I made my annual snow jar to place on my shelf in the kitchen. You get a tiny sneak peak of my shelves at the end of the reel. The snow jars are so easy to do and you probably have most of the items on hand.
💗
For the snow, I used blanket snow. You could also use, sugar or Epsom salt. I like the blanket snow because it’s not messy and it hides the fairy lights battery pack.
💗
The houses are ornaments that I bought at Target. I thought they were Perfect for my pink kitchen. Of course you can use whatever you have on hand. It doesn’t have to be a house and tree.
💗
If you buy fairy lights, make sure they have a timer on them. Trust me that will make life easier. If you don’t like fairy lights, you can use a faux candle.
Ohhh and have a stack of batteries. I go through more batteries in the month of December then I do the rest of the year!

Items used:
Apothecary jar
Fairy lights with timer
Pink house ornament
Bottlebrush tree
Pink ribbon

Everything, but the pink ribbon was bought at Target.

Happy Monday! Nope, I have not started decorating Happy Monday! Nope, I have not started decorating for Christmas yet. I am going slow and enjoying the process, plus I need to liquidate some stuff before I can get to the Christmas bins. 😂
🦌
I created this centerpiece last year, but never shared the still photos with you. I did do a reel, so you can always go back and see how I put it together.
🦌
Have you started decorating for Christmas?

Happy Monday! Here is a little throwback from last Happy Monday! Here is a little throwback from last years Christmas. I plan on doing green again in the living room. I just think it looks classic, plus I have all the decor already. So no need to buy more.
🎄
But I still do plan on doing pink in my kitchen. I figured I could use some pink everyday pieces that I already have and add pops of pink ornaments and pink little Christmas trees. I plan doing some shopping this week to see what I can find in pink. I’m so excited!!
🎄
Have a fantastic Monday!

Happy Monday! Sorry I haven’t been on in awhile. Happy Monday! Sorry I haven’t been on in awhile. My husband was sick with the flu, then he passed it on to me. My dog even had an upper respiratory infection. Ugh! It was a rough 2 weeks. Then on Friday I had surgery to remove skin cancer on my chest. I’m sore and I can’t lift or exercise. Anyway, that’s why I have not been on.
🦇
I wanted to give you one last look at my Halloween kitchen before I change it out. Not sure if I’m going to add some Fall or Christmas next. Did you know Christmas is in 63 days? 😳
🦇
So I have been thinking about Christmas colors. The past 2 years I have done green and I love it, however I have always wanted to do a pink Christmas. Just not sure if I can pull it off? I don’t know if I want to go crazy and buy a bunch of pink? What color are you doing this year?
🦇
Have a great day!!
