Weekly Recap

October 14, 2012 By Jennifer @ PB and P Design 6 Comments

Hi Everyone and Happy Sunday!!

Today I have for you a simple recipe that you can put together in just a few minutes.  It’s my Cinnamon and Sugar Lavash Chips.  Ever since I made my Pumpkin Nut Butter, I have been wanting to find something that was semi-healthy to dip in my nut butter and the Cinnamon and Sugar Crisps are perfect!!

I made these chips using a Lavash Bread.  If you’re not sure what Lavash Bread is, it’s a Middle Eastern flat bread that is kind of like a flat, rectangle shaped pita.  It’s perfect for making pizzas, rolling up to make wraps or making chips.  You can buy Lavash Bread at the deli section of most grocery stores or Trader Joe’s carries it too!!  It’s only 70 calories for half a flat bread which is pretty good considering the Lavash Bread is pretty big in size.  Bigger then a large tortilla shell.

To make these chips, all I did was cut them into squares, placed on a baking sheet, sprinkle cinnamon and sugar on top, bake for 5 minutes, flip and bake for 2 more minutes. They turned out perfect!  They are crisp, sweet and last for days in a sandwich baggie.  15 chips is only 84 calories and 0 fat!  Thats not bad at all considering 7 cinnamon and sugar pita chips are 140 calories, plus 7 grams of fat!  Oh, and these are so good crushed up on frozen yogurt, like my Pumpkin Frozen Yogurt or Apple Pie Frozen Yogurt.  Plus dipping into Nutella, Peanut Butter or Pumpkin Nut Butter!  he he

If you remember last year I made Lime Lavash Chips which was perfect for dipping into hummus!!  These chips are so versatile, you can add anything you want to them.  Earlier this week I also made garlic and pepper Lavash Chips, which I found highly addicting.  I didn’t post a recipe for them, but all I did was sprinkle some salt, garlic powder and cayenne pepper over the top and baked.  These chips will satisfy your need for crunch!!!

If you’re a potato chip or pita chip person, then you must make these chips!!!

A sweet and crispy baked cracker that is made with cinnamon and sugar,
Serves: 60 chips
Ingredients
  • 2 sheets of Lavash Bread
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon, ground
  • 1 tbsp. sugar
  • Cooking Spray
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees
  2. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and spray with cooking spray.
  3. Cut one sheet of lavash bread into 30 squares. Do the same with the other pieces. I found cutting them with a pizza cutter works quick and easy.
  4. Line the Lavash bread on baking sheet. Try not to overlap them. Lightly spray with cooking spray.
  5. In a small bowl add cinnamon and sugar. With a sifter add the sugar and cinnamon and shake over the lavash bread.
  6. Place in oven and bake for 5 minutes. Flip the crackers and bake for 2 minutes more.

Here is this weeks weekly recap:

Sunday:  Apple Pie Frozen Yogurt plus last weeks weekly recap – This apple pie frozen yogurt is such a refreshing wonderful treat and is perfect for a Fall dessert!

Monday – My Little Secret – This was such a fun post for me!  I loved making it!!  Yes, it’s true I do sneak in come chocolate every once in a while and it seems lately I have had a major sweet tooth!  But I think you can tell with this weeks recipes!

Tuesday – Sopressata and Genoa Salami Calzones  – This was another Emeril Lagasse Recipe.  My Husband LOVED these calzones!! They are so easy to make and so delish!  You can add whatever you like in them like spicy chicken sausage with roasted veggies!

Wednesday – Pumpkin Nut Butter – This pumpkin butter is so addicting it’s crazy!  It really tastes like pumpkin pie!  I have been dipping my lavash chips in it all week!!!

Thursday – Almond and Anise Biscotti – These are such a wonderful Italian cookie.  I took them to work and they were a hit with my co-workers.  I also froze a batch of them.  I like to re-warm them in the oven to make the fresh and crispy again.

Friday – Pumpkin Bread with Chocolate Chips – Oh my gosh this bread is amazing!  Moist, low calorie and contains no oil!  It’s amazing how soft and moist it is.  The bread isn’t super sweet, like you get from Starbucks, but it’s almost a rustic tasting quick bread.  This was also a hit at work!!  My Husband loved it too!  He was proud to come home from work and tell me he ate the whole loaf himself!!   If you like a nice sweet, healthy pumpkin bread then this is the recipe for you!!

Saturday – Peanut Butter, Banana and Honey Grilled Sandwich – Oh my gosh this was so darn good!  I never grilled a peanut butter and sandwich and I was missing out!   Perfect for my dinner, but would be great for lunch too!!

Well that is it for this weeks recipes!  Looking back, I really, really did have a sweet tooth!  Reminds me, that I need to try better this week, so expect less sweets and more meals.  Especially since I am going to the Daily / FoodBuzz event this weekend!  I know there will be lots of eating going on!  Are you going to the event?  I hope so, I would love to meet my fellow bloggers!

Have a great rest of the weekend!!

Toodles,

Jennifer

P.S.  This weeks craving!  Chicken Pot Pie Soup!  With the chilly weather coming, I have been wanting soup!

It’s time for my annual pumpkin bath picture. I It’s time for my annual pumpkin bath picture. I don’t know what it is, but I love to give pumpkins a bath. Don’t they look cute bathing in the sunlight with bubbles around them? lol
🎃
There are two methods that I have used in the past; the chlorine bath and the dish soap bath. This is what I have learned.
🎃
My favorite and only way I wash pumpkins now is using dish soap. It gets rid of the sap and makes them clean. I soak my pumpkins for about 20 minutes. The pumpkins will last until December. Plus if you keep your pumpkins after the holidays it will decay and grow pumpkins the following year. Plus it’s safe for animals that may nibble on your pumpkin.
🎃
The chlorine bath method will make your pumpkins last possibly up to a year. They take very long to break down and I never got my pumpkins to seed themselves. Plus it is not safe for animals in my opinion. Though Clorox Bleach says it’s safe, they just taste salty.
🎃
The key to washing pumpkins is to make sure that you get the area around the stem dry. You don’t want water around the stem. This could make your pumpkin rot sooner. So after the bath, dry your pumpkins off very good.
🎃
Did you get your pumpkins yet?
.
PS if you are in the Bay Area, I highly recommend going to @threenunnsfarm to get your pumpkins. They have a wide variety and the pumpkins and are .75 a pound. I bought all these pumpkins for $42.

Happy spooky Thursday! I added a few touches of Ha Happy spooky Thursday! I added a few touches of Halloween in my kitchen. I don’t do much Halloween decorations, but I just love to add it to the kitchen. Every time I go to the kitchen it makes me smile.
🦇
To add Fall or Halloween you don’t need to add a lot, just a few touches here and there. I will give a full tour in stories and tag a few items. Majority of the decor came from @krumpetshomedecor and the towels and bat banner from @theblessedpeach

Have the best day!

Hello Tuesday! Hope you are doing well. It’s sta Hello Tuesday! Hope you are doing well. It’s starting to feel like Fall here in Northern California. The mornings and evenings are feeling crisp. I can’t get over that we are in the middle of September. Where did the Summer go?
🎃
I’m sharing with you the corner of my living room where I store my pumpkins that I grew before I can take them outside. It’s been too warm for them and I want them to last through October. They have been doing well, as they have been here since the middle of August.
🎃
I’m excited because this Saturday our local pumpkin patch will be opening. They have a huge variety of pumpkins and very inexpensive too. I’ll be stocking up. I just love this time of year.

Have a wonderful day!

Happy Monday! I want to thank those who have reach Happy Monday! I want to thank those who have reached out to me asking if I am okay. I am doing just fine. I’ve taken a little break from posting here because I have been busy on the dogs Instagram page. It’s hard to keep up on both. The dog page is so busy with birthdays, events and engagement. They have a busier social life than me.
🩵
I am sharing with you the last view of my kitchen before it is filled with Halloween. I spent 6 hours yesterday cleaning all the cabinets, appliances, sink and floor. I even did the windows. It sure tired me out. I’m not as young as I used to be. But it is so sparkly clean. I did put up my Halloween and I can’t wait to share with you. The dining room is the next room to conquer.

Have a wonderful day!!

Hi, it’s me Samuel!! I am taking over mamas page Hi, it’s me Samuel!! I am taking over mamas page today because I got the best gift in the whole world and it even came in the mail on my birthday. How did @downlitebedding know? They are so good!
🐾
Downlite Bedding sent me the EnviroLoft® Down Alternative PrimaCool™ Cooling Comforter. Isn’t it beautiful? It’s so soft, cozy, hypoallergenic and it makes me so happy.
🐾
The comforter is 400 thread count, it has moisture wicking and cooling technology to help regulate body temperature, which is perfect since I get warm in the summer with all my hair and I like to be cool when I’m sleeping. A big plus is the comforter is white, I hide very well in it. It’s hard to see me. So mama can’t catch me on her bed.
🐾
The EnviroLoft® Down Alternative PrimaCool™ Cooling Comforter also has a Scotchguard stain release fabric and machine wash and dry. It’s truly an amazing comforter.
🐾
Mama let me do this takeover today because she knows that I love @downlitebedding as much as she does. She said she has never seen me get so excited as I do when we get Downlite Bedding and pillows in the mail. How can I not get excited? It’s like sleeping on a cloud!
🐾
Downlite Bedding was kind enough to give us a 20% discount: DYGEN20
🐾
Have a great day and happy napping!

Happy Thursday! Here is a view of my garden that I Happy Thursday! Here is a view of my garden that I took a couple weeks ago. My garden really overgrew this season. I need to do some major work in it, but with the heat, it’s just unbearable to be out there too long.
🌼
I had a lot of zinnias self-seed this season which is cool, but they kind of took over. They crowded out some plants, so I need to get in there and pull some out. Plus being so crowded, they got powdery mildew. Yuck!
🌼
I’m thinking for the Fall making this area a little harvest pumpkin area. We will see. I have grand ideas in my head, but I don’t always follow through. lol
🌼
How your garden growing? I lost all my potted plants from the heat. 😩

Hello Monday! This weekend I made a little charcut Hello Monday! This weekend I made a little charcuterie setup for my husband and I. This is something that I just love to do. I could just eat this type of meal all day long.

I am sharing the “All White Collection” from @bzaar_wholesale. Each piece to the collection is so elegant and can be used all year round and would be gorgeous around the holidays.

The tray is made of marble with beautiful gold handles. The cheese knives are gold with solid marble handles and compliments the tray perfectly.

I used the marble flower shaped bowl for putting chocolates, but would be so stunning to use on your coffee table, side table and more.

The cake stand is has a marble base with Mother of Pearl edging and has a glass lid to go over the top. I will be putting my cakes and cookies on it in the future, but for now I used it to place my bruschetta.

@bzaar_wholesale has amazing products for your home, great pricing and global shipping. The link is in my bio.

Do you like making charcuterie boards? What do you add to yours?

Hello, hello! It may be 100 degrees outside, but I Hello, hello! It may be 100 degrees outside, but I can’t resist putting out some Fall. Especially when you get new decor from @12timbers. You would laugh if you came into my living-room. Half my room is Fall, the other half is still coastal blues. lol I’ll eventually change it all out.
🍂
Let’s talk the art work. Isn’t it stunning? My husband never says anything about my decor, but he keeps talking about how much he likes the framed art from 12 Timbers. I agree, it’s so beautiful. It reminds me of when I lived back east and we would go to Letchworth Park in NY. The colors are stunning and goes perfectly with the burnt orange color that I’m using this season.
🍂
I just adore the wooden cut out pumpkins from @12Timbers. When I look at them they make me smile. The orange wooden leaf is the perfect piece to bring everything together. This gets me so excited for Fall decorating. Now to finish the rest of the living room.
🍂
12 Timbers is so kind to give me a discount code. It’s good until Saturday at midnight. The code is PBANDP15.
🍂
Have the most beautiful day!

Look at this friends! It’s my first Fall vignett Look at this friends! It’s my first Fall vignette. Notice anything that seems a tad early? It’s my first pumpkin from my garden. Can you believe it? They started to grow early this season so it’s time to start picking. Unfortunately the massive one I showed you a couple weeks ago didn’t make it. It collapsed in the middle. That makes me sad, but at least I have more pumpkins growing.
🎃
I really had fun bringing out some Fall decor. Fall is not my favorite season, as I love Spring and Summer, but Fall is my favorite to decorate for.
🎃
I wanted to share with you my new reversible blocks from @krumpetshomedecor. Aren’t they cute. They would look so pretty on a shelf. The one side says Fall and the other side says Boo! The two wooden pumpkins are also from Krumpets Home Decor.

Hello Tuesday! One of my favorite summer drinks is Hello Tuesday! One of my favorite summer drinks is a nice cold glass of lemonade. I like it a tad sour over sweet. It gives you the zippys in your mouth. I do love a good homemade lemonade, but once in awhile I like to cheat and just get my favorite store brand and add some freshly cut lemons and a few sprigs of mint. It then looks homemade when it’s not.
🍋
This is my outdoor dining area. I put the tablecloth over the table and have kept it like that all summer. I love my table, but being black, it’s extremely hot when you touch it. Plus it has water spots from last year which is annoying. Not sure how to get rid of them?
