Happy Monday!!
Today I am excited to bring to you my newest coffee drink, the Chocolate Peanut Butter Frappe! I got this idea from Joanne from Eats Well with Others, when she commented on my Almond Joy Frappe post and said I should conquer the Reese’s Frappe next. I took that idea and ran with it!!! Thanks Joanne!
I have to tell you this does taste like a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup!! As soon as I made it, I ran, no really, I ran to my Husband and said try this!! He took a sip and said yuck! It tastes like peanut butter. I asked does it taste like a Reese’s? He said uh huh! Yah! I did it! Now your probably thinking, but he didn’t like it! But one thing you may not know, is that he doesn’t like peanut butter! Yes, he’s crazy, but ever since I started to make peanut butter he got so sick of it that I burned him out on it!! Personally I don’t know how anyone can be burned out on Peanut Butter? That’s just crazy talk to me.
But just to be safe I sucked it up (yah that was hard, lol) and made another one, just so I can have a second opinion. I asked Little Jenny if she would try it and you know she wouldn’t say no. Who besides my Husband, would turn down chocolate and peanut butter? She took a sip, looked at me and said “mmm, it’s really good”!!! I asked does it taste like Reese’s? She said yup, with just a hint of coffee. She loved it!! See what I have to do for you, just so I can have a second opinion. It was pretty hard making this delicious drink just for you and you know what? I loved every minute of it! 🙂
To describe this frappe, I would call it creamy, chocolaty, sweet and peanut buttery. I honestly don’t taste the coffee too much, but that could be because I drink so much of it I don’t notice it, where as Jenny noticed it. Remember to use coffee that you like when making my Frappe’s. Nothing worse is when you go to make a drink and it doesn’t taste good because of the coffee.
To get the peanut butter taste, I used PB2 Powder. PB2 is awesome in this drink. I debated about using real peanut butter, but I wanted to watch the calories and I wanted something that would give me a strong peanut butter taste. PB2 was perfect! Just in case you’re wondering I bought my PB2 on Amazon. Amazon is amazing, it has everything! Whenever I can’t find something I just go there!
The calories are a little bit higher in this drink compared to my normal Frappe’s, but it’s still has good stats! This drink makes just over 3 cups and comes in at 118 calories for the whole thing!! It has almost 5 grams of fiber, almost 10 grams of protein and on 3.4 grams of fat! I’m actually pretty pleased with the nutritional value on this Frappe. To be honest, I was a little scared to do the calculations. I hate when I create something and come to find out it’s high in calories, fat and carbs.
- 1½ cups coffee, frozen (slightly thawed)
- ½ cup skim milk
- ¼ coconut milk, unsweetened
- 11/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 Tbsp. PB2 Powder
- 1 tbsp + 1 tsp.unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 packet stevia or 2 tbsp. sugar (to taste)
- 1 pinch Xantham Gum (optional)
- 2 Tbsp. Whip Cream, fat free
- In a blender add coffee, milk, coconut milk, vanilla extract, PB2 Powder, cocoa powder, stevia and Xantham Gum. Blend until combined.
- Top with 2 Tbsp. whip cream
I love making these drinks, but I am running out of ideas. So you must tell me what kind of Frappe would you like me to make next? I am having fun creating these, but I need more ideas. I know Samantha said to make chocolate, so that one is on my list, but I need more!! So please leave some suggestions in the comment section.
Time for me to sign off. Have a great week! I’ll be thinking of you while I am sipping my Frappe and enjoying my vacation! 🙂
Toodles,
Jen
P.S. My Peanut Butter cup was just a little heavy for my Frappe.

High calorie… Are you kidding?! This sounds amazing! I would drink two of these and not have a care in the world. That’s actually a terrific idea. I think I’ll do that today, though I’ll probably use real peanut butter!
Jennifer @ Peanut Butter and Peppers says
If you make it let me know how it is with real PB.

How about a mint mocha frappe? I usually order a mocha frappe at starbuck’s and have them put a mint shot in it. It would be a really big hit in my household because we are all mint chocolate AND coffee fans.

Question? It says 11/2 tsp vanilla extract, is that suppose to be 1/2?
I am a peanut butter addict and will not seek help for it 😉

It’s 1 and 1/2 teaspoons! 🙂 I am a peanut butter addict too! I love it!!!

Jennifer, what does the xantham gum do? I make frappes with a Mr. Coffee frappe maker, but I’m having trouble getting the ice to stay suspended in the drink (does that make sense?). Wondered if this is what the xantham gum does…
Jennifer @ Peanut Butter and Peppers says
Hi, Xantham Gum is a thickener. My readers recommend that I use a pinch of it to keep my drink from separating. They said Starbucks uses it int here drinks? However besides keeping my drink from separating, it thickens it up and makes it almost milkshake texture, but lighter! You don’t have to use it! I use it for photos ect… but when I make it at home just for myself, I rarely use the xantham gum. If your interested in buying it, I heard Walmart has it pretty cheap. Bob Mills is the brand I use and Walmart carries it.

Hi, I’ve come across your page via the Reese’s page on facebook (browsing the pictures clicking on the ones I like and then clicking on the links they give for the recipes) and has anyone told you how awesome you are lol. Now if I could just translate/find the ingredients here in Oz and substitute the coffee (despise coffee ick) 😀
Still I’ve copied down the recipe, will see what comes of it hehe
Claire says
Oh my gosh, this recipe tastes AMAZING! Thank you so much!! I actually had all the ingredients except whipped cream. I made this vegan by using soy milk instead of skim. Absolutely delicious. I will be making this again!

Hello there! I’ve decided I don’t like coffee in my frappes (which kind of ruins the whole ‘frappe’ thing, but I have no clue what else to call it! ‘Blended drink’? Absolutely not.), but I decided I would make a recipe of my own. I’m sure this is a fabulous recipe, but I wanted to give you a couple ideas for ingredients! 🙂
First off, I’ve tried chocolate frappes with cocoa powder, but it just never does the trick. I’ve found something else! Chocolate Malt Powder. It has a super good taste and works for any drink.
Second, melted peanut butter! Credit goes to Amy’s Healthy Baking for the idea, but what you do is simply put pb in the microwave in a small glass bowl. Once melted and liquid-y, you simply drizzle it over your drink! It quickly freezes over your drink and it tastes so good.
That’s that! 🙂
I’ve already copied some of your recipes into my ‘Smoothie Book’. They all look great, keep blending!
