Hi Everyone,
Happy Sunday to you! This Saturday I was on a mission. I was looking for Laptops and I drove all over the Bay Area looking. Needless to say I am going to end up back at my first stop, Best Buy. My computer I am working on now is on its last legs. After looking at computers, We went to Fuddruckers for dinner. I got one of their fat Elk Burgers. Oh my gosh, have you ever had one? There so good! Low in fat, low in calories and high in protein, only 433 calories for the burger on a wheat bun. I love their buns, but there not good for mine. lol One thing I love about Fuddruckers is their salad bar. I load my Burgers with lettuce, tomatoes and jalapenos and add just a pinch of nacho cheese. Yum!!! Of course I headed to Trader Joe’s after dinner for a few items to get me through the week. I got the same old stuff as usual but I did find two new items that I had to try. The first item is their new Apple Cinnamon Sticks. Holy yum yums! They taste delish. There multigrain, 140 calories for 38 sticks! They kind of taste like Apple Jacks cereal, but way better. I can see them crushed up on ice cream or even on warmed apples. There a nice snack! Trader Joe’s did good on this one.
The second new item I got was sugar free gum. Nothing exciting there, but it’s kind of cool to carry some TJ’s in my purse. 🙂
I also got an unexpected surprise package from Petit Amuse. Look at the goodies I got! I got Oogies Sun-dried tomato & Parmesan popcorn, Salted Shortbread Cookie & Cha-Cha Cookie from Lark, (Can’t wait to try the Cha-Chas, there spicy, rich chocolate cookie), Ice Wine Jelly and Garukabars Raw Honey Primal Energy Bar made with whole peanuts, dried cranberries and raw honey. I just love getting this kind of stuff. So much fun!!
Petit Amuse is a local business located in San Francisco that sends out once a month surprise goodie boxes with treats from artisan food producers that you’ve never heard of and give you a taste of what you didn’t even know you were missing. The best way to describe them, is their like Foodie Penpal. It costs a flat rate of $10.00 a month and you get a surprise package of different items. The best part is, if you like something that you get, you can order it online at there website. I like that idea. Nothing worse than getting something and not being able to get it again. I think this is pretty cool, especially if your like me and you like to get surprises in the mail. You should check their site out if your interested. Here’s there website.
Here is this weeks recipe recaps:
Started the week out with Cherry Chip Frozen Yogurt – This my friends is my favorite new dessert. I eat it every night! Guilt-free, full of protein and I get to make any flavor I like! I just LOVE it!!
Tuesday was Skinny Bitch Tuesday where I made Cheesy Potato Bake – Love this side dish to, the thyme and rosemary really added the extra flavor that this dish needed.
Wednesday was Nutella Coffee Frappe – I already had two this week. Darn Nutella, I love that creamy, chocolaty spread and now I am glad I can drink it, without the guilt!
Thursday was Veggie Garden Bake – I’m proud of this dish, it comes in a little over 120 calories, full of protein, fiber and fresh veggies. This also made the Foodbuzz top 9 on Saturday! I can’t believe two weeks in a row hitting the top 9!! 🙂
Friday was my Roasted Corn Salad – This was a recipe remake and I am so glad I did. I spend so much time making new recipes that I tend to forget about the old. This is a little time-consuming but so worth it. You can use it as a side dish, top of hot dogs or do what I did and make a salad.
Salad Version:
Saturday was my Smokey Chipotle BBQ Sauce – I love it! It’s got a nice smokey hickory flavor with a hint of heat from the Chipotle Powder. Nothing beats homemade BBQ Sauce!
I hope you enjoyed this weeks recaps! I enjoyed making them, I already made two more recipes to share with you, their good and I can’t wait to find out what you think!
Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
Toodles,
Jennifer
P.S. Here is my Orange Creamsicle Frappe, one of my favorite recipes that I had for my Saturday afternoon! It’s refreshing creamy and delish!
where do i find the hazlenut extract i have looked several places for it? Also plz let me know what pc you got as im a dummy when it comes to tech. items and i also need a new one as well just so many out there not sure the type to get and how much memory and hard drive to put on or have added could you sort of give me a thumbs up bout this, as i respect your input on this matter as i know you need a good pc for all the blogging and etc you do Thanks a devoted fan
I bought my Hazelnut Extract from my grocery store, Lucky’s. It’s in with the spices. The name brand I use is McCormick.
For computers, I have no clue! I went to Best Buy, told them what I wanted my computer for and they directed me to this Toshiba Satellite. Other then that I have no computer knowledge. They don’t get commission at Best Buy so they ask what your price range is and what you need it for. So far I’m pretty happy with my Toshiba, but it has only been a day.
Wow Jennifer, you’ve had a delicious week! I’ve missed some of your posts as we’ve been out of town but I’m glad to catch up, YUM! Love that garden veggie bake, looks like the perfect lunch!
Thank you! 🙂 I’m glad your back!!
A trip to Trader Joe’s has been on my to-do list for too long now! I haven’t seen those apple sticks before, but can’t wait to try them.
Another week of delicous recipes – and beautiful photos! That Nutella frappe looks beyond amazing. I’ve got to make that this week!
Just discovered Trader Joe’s Cinnamon Apple Stick snack and I, too, had to blog about it! That’s actually how I found your blog (had to ‘follow’ of course ;)).
These snacks r yum-tastic!
Oh my gosh there so addicting!!! I read your blog and love it! I tried to leave a comment, but I don’t think it went through.
