Stuffed Strawberry and Cheese French Toast

May 4, 2012 By Jennifer @ PB and P Design 35 Comments

Yah it’s Friday!!  I am so happy for the weekend to be here.  No immediate plans, just happy I can sleep in a bit!  For your weekend breakfast I have a wonderful stuffed strawberry french toast recipe just for you!

I got this idea from Food Networks Dinners, Drive In’s and Dives a few months ago and it was sitting in the back of my mind forever!  I am glad I finally made it!!  This was quick, simple and the flavors are amazing!  I love the combination of cream cheese and strawberries together.   Mmmmm, creamy, cheesy, sweet, yum, yums!

They key to keeping the calorie count low on french toast is the bread.  I used Alvarado Street Bakery Bread that I picked up from Trader Joe’s.  It’s wheat bread with flax seed and only comes in at 50 calories a slice.  So if you use a different bread just be sure to knock off a 100 calories of my bread and add yours in.  I really like the bread because it’s soft in the middle and the crust is kind of crunchy.

I figured having french toast would be a different change-up from my usual pancakes.  I’m so glad I made it!  You could also use other fruit you like such as thin sliced apples and pears or other berries.  Me, I have a love for strawberries.  Like a mentioned last week, you’re going to see a lot of strawberry type recipes. Why I haven’t gotten sick of strawberries, I’ll never know?

Happy World Kindness Day! This weekend I made my a Happy World Kindness Day! This weekend I made my annual snow jar to place on my shelf in the kitchen. You get a tiny sneak peak of my shelves at the end of the reel. The snow jars are so easy to do and you probably have most of the items on hand.
💗
For the snow, I used blanket snow. You could also use, sugar or Epsom salt. I like the blanket snow because it’s not messy and it hides the fairy lights battery pack.
💗
The houses are ornaments that I bought at Target. I thought they were Perfect for my pink kitchen. Of course you can use whatever you have on hand. It doesn’t have to be a house and tree.
💗
If you buy fairy lights, make sure they have a timer on them. Trust me that will make life easier. If you don’t like fairy lights, you can use a faux candle.
Ohhh and have a stack of batteries. I go through more batteries in the month of December then I do the rest of the year!
💗
Items used:
Apothecary jar
Fairy lights with timer
Pink house ornament
Bottlebrush tree
Pink ribbon

Everything, but the pink ribbon was bought at Target.
💗
Have fun creating! If you make one, tag me so I can share!!

Happy Monday! Sorry I haven’t been on in awhile. Happy Monday! Sorry I haven’t been on in awhile. My husband was sick with the flu, then he passed it on to me. My dog even had an upper respiratory infection. Ugh! It was a rough 2 weeks. Then on Friday I had surgery to remove skin cancer on my chest. I’m sore and I can’t lift or exercise. Anyway, that’s why I have not been on.
🦇
I wanted to give you one last look at my Halloween kitchen before I change it out. Not sure if I’m going to add some Fall or Christmas next. Did you know Christmas is in 63 days? 😳
🦇
So I have been thinking about Christmas colors. The past 2 years I have done green and I love it, however I have always wanted to do a pink Christmas. Just not sure if I can pull it off? I don’t know if I want to go crazy and buy a bunch of pink? What color are you doing this year?

Hello! Happy October! Hope you are having a great Hello! Happy October! Hope you are having a great start to the month. I received the cutest fragrance package from @myclaireburke. I couldn’t wait to add these wonderful fragrances to my home.
🍎
The scent I received is Apple Jack & Peel. It’s fresh apples with cinnamon and a hint of citrus. It smells like fall. Reminds me of when we go to Apple Hill to go apple picking, which we will be doing next week.
🍎
The scent is warm and cozy and the candle and potpourri is so pretty. Not only do these look so pretty in my home, but they would make such a wonderful housewarming gift. I wish you could smell them.

If you are looking for Fall and Winter scented fragrances. I highly recommend checking out @myclaireburke

It’s time for my annual pumpkin bath picture. I It’s time for my annual pumpkin bath picture. I don’t know what it is, but I love to give pumpkins a bath. Don’t they look cute bathing in the sunlight with bubbles around them? lol
🎃
There are two methods that I have used in the past; the chlorine bath and the dish soap bath. This is what I have learned.
🎃
My favorite and only way I wash pumpkins now is using dish soap. It gets rid of the sap and makes them clean. I soak my pumpkins for about 20 minutes. The pumpkins will last until December. Plus if you keep your pumpkins after the holidays it will decay and grow pumpkins the following year. Plus it’s safe for animals that may nibble on your pumpkin.
🎃
The chlorine bath method will make your pumpkins last possibly up to a year. They take very long to break down and I never got my pumpkins to seed themselves. Plus it is not safe for animals in my opinion. Though Clorox Bleach says it’s safe, they just taste salty.
🎃
The key to washing pumpkins is to make sure that you get the area around the stem dry. You don’t want water around the stem. This could make your pumpkin rot sooner. So after the bath, dry your pumpkins off very good.
🎃
Did you get your pumpkins yet?
.
PS if you are in the Bay Area, I highly recommend going to @threenunnsfarm to get your pumpkins. They have a wide variety and the pumpkins and are .75 a pound. I bought all these pumpkins for $42.
