Cheesy Crescent Rolls

Hi Everyone,

Today I have a little bit of a childhood recipe to share with you.  Well it’s really not a recipe, but it’s more of a way to do up a classic.  See when I was a kid, one of my favorite things my Mom used to make were Pillsbury Crescent Rolls.  Oh boy did I love them.  I am sure your not surprised since I have a major thing for bread.  But I remember my Mom pop opening the container, taking out the rolls and rolling them up into the little crescent roll shape.  I used to steal some of the dough and eat it raw.  Gross, I know.  Well I happen to find myself with a can of crescent rolls in my hand at the grocery store and I just had to buy them.  I haven’t had them in so many years.  But I had intent to make this glorious chipotle chicken recipe, but I never got around to it and honestly I don’t think it would work.  So instead I thought I would make a side dish for you to serve for Thanksgiving.  It’s my Cheesy Crescent Rolls.

These rolls are delish! They are buttery, flaky, a little bit salty and filled with just a little cheese to add additional flavor. After all, who doesn’t like cheese? I compared the reduced fat and the original packages together and for 10 additional calories, you are better off with the original. They have a gram or two more fat but less sugar and carbs than the original. Each crescent roll is only 100 calories. I didn’t think that was too bad, as long as you stick to one, ok two.

To make the crescent rolls, I filled the center with a little bit of shredded cheese, maybe a tablespoon in each one. Then I rolled it up and topped with Parmesan cheese. I didn’t add butter or glaze to go over the top because the rolls are buttery enough. The Parmesan cheese really makes these rolls. They give them a nice salty flavor which compliments the whole roll. My family went crazy over them. Oh and when you serve them hot, the cheese oozes out. So good!

I think these would make for a nice quick dinner roll to serve at your holiday table or even for dinner during the week. I love how easy they are, and I am all about easy meals and side dishes these days. Plus I love the surprise of the cheese filling. You have no idea of how much of a cheese kick I have been on. I can’t get enough of it.

Well my Friends, have a great day!

Toodles,

Jennifer
