Hi Everyone,
Welcome to Yum Yum Wednesday, where I flash back to one of my all time favorite recipes. Since it’s be nice and warm out and I have been cooking on the grill and one of my favorite grilled items is a burger! I love hamburgers! One of my favorite kind of indulgences. So today I am sharing with you one of my all time favorites, the Caprese Burger! Oh yah! Beef, mozzarella, tomatoes, basil and balsamic glaze. It couldn’t get any better! I know that having a beef that is around 80% lean is what most people like their burgers to be. Well I always use Trader Joe’s 96/4 and let me tell you I perfected the burger that people won’t even know it’s lean. I posted the instructions on the Caprese Burger post, but I thought I would share with you again what I wrote:
I have been doing some reading on how to grill burgers. First your suppose to use 80% fat ground beef, now not me, I’m going for 96% lean ground beef. I don’t need any extra fat in my diet so 96% it is. So how did I get a lean burger so moist and delicious. Here’s the secrets.
- When forming the hamburger patty, make it a nice loose patty, not tight and slightly flatten it to be about 1/4″ thick.
- Refrigerate the patty’s for 10 minutes
- Press your thumb lightly on top of the burger so the meat cooks evenly.
- Cook over medium heat
- After 5 minutes of cooking, flip the burger and top with cheese, once cheese is melted, burger is done.
The burger was not over cooked at all, it was a perfect medium, well. I am so proud of these burgers, and now you know how to make the ultimate lean burger!

Since it is Yum Yum Wednesday, I have a few new items that I tried to share with you.
First up is Ladera Granola! I received a sample of this granola and let me tell you big mistake in opening it up. I can’t stop eating it! The flavor I have is Original Almond and Pecan. It tastes just like a muffin top. It’s sweet, but only contains 4 grams of sugar per serving, I don’t know how they did that. Plus it’s all natural, loaded with pecans, almonds and I can taste lots of cinnamon. This is some good stuff, plus it’s only 150 calories for 1/4 cup. I’m eating this right now and I probably had about a cup. It’s really good. You can check out Ladera Granola here.
Trader Joe’s Veggie Chips – My friend told me to try these out that I would like them. Honestly the first bite I thought ehhh, there ok, then I had another and then I fell in love with them. I liked them so much I thought I would share with you my review. As you can see from the bag, I really like them! They are light, salty, a little greasy on the hands, but all in all pretty darn good! I don’t recall but I know you get like 17 chips for one serving, which isn’t to bad! Check them out next time you’re at Trader Joe’s.
Next on my list is Glutino Muffin Mix and Chocolate Chip Cookie Mix. I haven’t tried the Muffin Mix but I did try the Chocolate Chip Cookie Mix. There was a recipe on the back of the package that had a Chocolate Mocha Cookie. So I followed the directions and made these fat chocolate cookies. I wasn’t sure about them, but then I had a bite and they tasted like brownies! You so need milk or coffee with it. You can check out the picture on my Instagram page here. By the way Glutino is a gluten-free brand, but you don’t have to be gluten-free to enjoy their products, You can check them out here.
I had some other products that I have tried, but for the life of me I can’t find the pictures, so I am just leaving you with three reviews.
Now get out there and get your grills fired up and try my burger how to!!
Have a great day!
Toodles,
Jennifer
