OREO Cookies and Cream Smoothie

Hi Everyone!

Yah, it’s Friday!!  Woohoo!!! This weekend is my Pretty Muddy Run.  I’m excited and a little afraid.  How am I going to do on a 5k obstacle course in the mud and the sun?  My run is at 9:15am, but it’s suppose to hit in the 100’s in Sacramento, so it is going to be hot.  I have been good, hitting the gym four days in a row, which is like a record for me.  I have been on the treadmill, elliptical, bike and the horrible stair climber, plus I have been practicing on the rope machine.  My arms are sore, so today I am going to take it easy and I am just going to do some yoga and stretching.  I’m trying to get all geared up to do my run without practically killing myself.  I am sure I will fill you in on the run next week.  Since I have been so busy between work, the gym, making dinners and blogging, I am going to make it short today.  Today I have for you another smoothie recipe, I know, I know, but it’s hot out and I have been on a sweet kick all week, plus a smoothie kick so I am bringing you another smoothie recipe.  I hope you don’t mind.

Oreo Cookies and Cream Smoothie

This isn’t the healthiest smoothie in the world, but it’s also not bad.  I believe in moderation of sweet treats and I did try to make it as healthy as I could since I used pudding mix in the recipe.  But believe me, it’s well worth the calories.  It practically tastes like a milkshake.  It’s so good, so sweet, thick, cold and has the most wonderful cookies and cream taste.  I haven’t had a OREO cookie in years and this smoothie totally gave me the OREO cookie taste that I have been missing without actually adding OREO’s!

When I was in the baking isle of the grocery store the blue box with the word OREO was calling me!  I looked at it and thought, I don’t know?  The all of a sudden my hand put it in the cart.  I thought ok, why not?  Such a great idea!!!  Thanks to JELL-O I got to have my OREO cookie, without adding an actual OREO.  That’s a calorie savor since OREO’s are 53 calories a cookie and my guess I would need at least 3 cookies in this recipe, ok, maybe two, but either way, my smoothie has only 132 calories and it contains Chobani Greek Yogurt and milk!  I used plain Chobani, but I could only imagine how much better it would taste with Chobani Vanilla Greek Yogurt.  Oh my!!

    1. Good luck on the run chica! Just remember to take it slow if it really is that hot! Better to finish than to collapse from heatstroke halfway through!

This smoothie sounds awesome. perfect friday treat!

    2. Great, simple idea – thanks for sharing!

    3. Ok, YUM! Looks absolutely delicious!! Good luck on your run!

    4. I loooooove cookies and cream and this smoothie looks SOOO yummy!

    5. You have the best ideas. I would never have though to put pudding in a smoothie. Love the way you pulled this off with only 132 calories!

    6. Trudi Crookshanks says

I love your smoothies. I live in Southern California and the last two jell-o mixes you have suggested, I have not been able to find. My usual places to shop are Target, Trader Joe’s and Smart&Final. I went into Ralph’s and could not find it as well. Anybody have suggestions! We used the pudding that were in the refrigerated section. From what the woman at Ralph’s said, each store stocks differently and they are stocking less powdered Jell-O.

      • Hmm, that’s weird! I bought my JELLO at Raley’s / Nob Hill, which I think is also known as Ralph’s. My Target has a ton of flavors too. I’m so sorry, I hate when that happens. I’m running into the same issue with McCormick spices. They have two spice flavors I want to try and none of my stores carry them. Maybe next time your near a Safeway, see if they have them. So crazy!!

    7. I am crazy for all things cookies and cream! This looks so yummy!

    8. Melissa Gomes says

I just tried this and it had kind of a sour taste to it, especially the after taste.

    9. I just made this for my kids and it is a WINNER!!! I love to give my kids healthy treats.

    10. I just made this today, only change was I used Almond milk instead. It was ssoooo Goood! I gave ice cream And Oreos a year ago when I started my weight loss journey and was so scare to having a relapse. This way I can still have my fix without breaking my healthier eating habits!! Thank you so much for this!!

    11. Stephanie Hannon says

      Hi there,

I just wanted to double check that I’m going to make it correctly…do I prepare the pudding and add 6 tsp of pudding or just 6 tsp of the powder pudding mix? Thank you so much for this healthy treat…I’ve been looking for a smoothie that will satisfy my sweet tooth but won’t completely ruin my diet!

    12. I’ve been crazy for OREO Cookies lately — love it in a smoothie!

    13. I am new to using Greek yogurt, and I’m curious what it did to “make” the smoothie… Could you substitute it out for plain yogurt or even ice cream (granted, probably losing out on a lot of “healthiness”)?

      • Your funny Sarah! Plain yogurt will work great, and I even think vanilla yogurt would work nicely, just omit the vanilla extract if using vanilla yogurt. As for ice cream, it would great! Then you have a nice milkshake!!! Just go for a natural vanilla ice cream and stick to one serving which is normally a half cup. That way you don’t go crazy on calories! Give it a whirl and let me know how it turns out.

    14. This was so good!! We used your recipe as the base and kind of changed it to fit what we had on hand. We used 1% milk, low fat strawberry yogurt, and sugar free cheesecake instant pudding. It was delicious! It tasted just as good (if not better) than a regular milkshake. With our substitutions it came out to about 200 calories for the whole recipe! It filled all three of our glasses up too! I cannot wait ti experiment with other puddings too…Thank you so much for a wonderful recipe!

    15. Kids liked this. Would not taste as pudding like if you added some extra oreos!!!

    16. Sierra Davis says

Is there anything that I can substitute for Stevia? If I leave it out will it taste bad? Where do you find Stevia if you cant leave it out?

    17. I’m trying this tonight!

    18. Just made this tonight! OH MY GOODNESS!! It was delicious. I omitted the yogurt since I don’t like the taste in my smoothies, and substituted unsweetened Almond Milk for the milk. My family sucked this down in seconds

    19. Payton Filing says

OMG it is super good thanks for sharing this!!!

    20. Reading the # of carbs you might actually be better off with full fat ice cream, skim milk and ice. You are missing protein and healthy milk fats from this that would balance the blood sugar impact.

Do you cook the rice for cookies a

    22. Lisa wilson says

    23. I wonder how other pudding flavors would work? Vanilla with coffee extract, chocolate with mint extract, Pistachio, maybe other variations?

    24. Lisa wilson says

    25. Thank you Lisa.
