Hi Everyone and Happy National Oatmeal Day!!
I finally got a holiday ahead of time! For some reason my food sync is in line, but always a day early or a day to late, today I am actually posting on the correct day!! I got an e-mail telling me to be prepared for oatmeal day and I thought, hmmm, oatmeal I haven’t had that in months!! So why not make some sweet, chocolaty oatmeal for breakfast?
I do love oatmeal and I thought that having it with sweet chocolate and creamy peanut butter would be perfect time to have around Halloween This is a great way to get that candy fix, plus this is pretty healthy for you, except for the Reese’s Peanut Butter Chips on top, but they make it all that much better!!
I do have to tell you that this oatmeal filled me for hours! It’s hearty, thick and just sweet enough to hit that sweet tooth. I am sooooooo loving this big bowl of peanut butter chocolate heaven!! Man, nothing beats waking up to such a great breakfast!!
Not only is this dish tasty it’s also fast making. I think it may have taken me about 5 minutes to make it! It took me longer to photograph, than to make. I will tell you this oatmeal also tastes pretty good cold!! But if you serve it hot, those peanut butter chips will melt right in it and oh baby is that good!!!
- ½ cup oats
- 1 cup non-fat milk or unsweetend coconut milk
- 1 tbsp. unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 tsp, stevia to taste
- 1 tbsp. peanut butter
- ½ tbsp. peanut butter chips
- In a sauce pan add oats, milk, cocoa powder and stevia. Cook until milk is evaporated and oatmeal is thick. About a minute before it is done, whip in peanut butter.
- Pour into a bowl and top with peanut butter chips.
If you want to save 40 calories, some fat and sugar you can omit the peanut butter chips on top, but I honestly think it gives it that extra deliciousness that this oatmeal deserves!
Happy Oatmeal day!! Now tell me, what is your favorite kind of oatmeal? I have a ton, and will share them with you in the future!
Toodles,
Jennifer

Yum! Your oatmeal looks really good! I love oatmeal so much! I would love more recipes! Right now I am hooked on pumpkin oatmeal with a few mini dark chocolate chips sprinkled on top! I always sweeten my oatmeal with 1/2 a chopped banana and I also wisk in a beaten egg as it cooks!

Now that the cooler weather is here I’ll be making oatmeal recipes! It’s more of a fall and winter food!

Wowie zowie – you really know how to make an amazing breakfast – what a way to start the day. I never let my kids have chocolate cereal for breakfast when they were growing up so don’t tell them if I make this for me!

I didn’t know it was National Oatmeal Day, so it’s funny that that is what I made the kids and me for breakfast today! I like to make it with almond milk, and a mashed up banana. I also love to make different flavors of refrigerator oatmeal (fave is cocoa peanut butter). I love how versatile oatmeal is…cinnamon, chocolate chips, peanut butter, cocoa, strawberries, bananas, blueberries, nutmeg, cloves, apples, honey, etc…
Jennifer @ Peanut Butter and Peppers says
I love oatmeal because like you said, it’s so versatile! I love it with banana too!! Yummy!
