Peppermint Mocha Frappe

Howdy Everyone,

I have been having so much fun with making frappuccino’s this week, that I created another one for you.  One of my all time favorites, Mint Peppermint Mocha!  It is so delicious, refreshing and the perfect after dinner dessert.

Remember when I made my Coconut Frappe the other day and I was having issues with my blender?  Well on Saturday I bit the bullet and went out and bought myself a Ninja Blender for my Mother’s Day present.  I bought it from bed Bath and Beyond and used my 20% off coupon.  It works like a dream!!

I can’t wait to see what else I can make with it.  I’m curious to how the juicing part will go.  I may try that tomorrow since I have veggies I have to use up before my trip.  I know my Husband won’t be eating veggies while I’m gone and I can’t let them go to waste.  I would have liked a Vitamix but that was way out of my price range, but so far I’m pretty happy with my Ninja.

Back in my non-healthy lifestyle I used to order the full-blown fatty Mint Peppermint Mocha from Starbucks.  I will say it is so good!  With all that fresh whip cream, sugar and chocolate.  Oh man, was it good!  But I’m happy to report that my Peppermint Mocha is just as amazing.  Little Jenny and I split this drink and I was worried to what she would think, since she orders Frappuccino’s from Starbucks all the time.  Her review was Mmmm, this is good.  When I told her I didn’t add any sugar, she was like what the heck, really?  You wouldn’t have known.  She thought is was very creamy, sweet and delish.  Yah for me!!  That’s pretty good coming from a 20 year old.

With my drink I added 1/4 teaspoon of pure mint extract, you may want to go a pinch less and just try one drop first and take it from there.  The mint at first seemed like “Wow”, but once you started to drink the frappe, you didn’t notice the strong peppermint flavor.  This drink, as Jenny said, is extremely creamy and full of mint and chocolate flavor.  You don’t really notice the taste of coffee in this drink.  If you want more of a strong coffee taste, I would add two packets of instant coffee or a strong espresso.

You know I like to do my comparisons, so let’s compare Starbucks to mine.

I don’t get where the sugar comes from in Starbucks?  I think it is from their mocha.  Now for mine.  Now take in mind, my sugar count is from milk.  Milk has natural sugars in it.  I also didn’t water my drink down, its pure fat free milk.  When you look at the figures, look at my protein, compared to Starbucks.  They use non-fat milk, so where’s the protein?  They must only use about 1/2 cup of milk in the drink, and the rest is sugar and water.  Not good Starbucks!  Now don’t think I won’t go there to drink coffee, because I still will.  But making it at home is healthier and better for you.

Now what do you think?

Since I got my Ninja, I remade my Coconut Mocha Frappe and it turned out smooth and creamy, just the way I wanted it.

Doesn’t it look better than the ones’ I posted last week?  I think I may update that post with the better pictures I took.

Well I am almost done writing my posts for the week.  I have been busy this past week making extra recipes to share with you.

Have a wonderful Wednesday!!
